The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce our first-ever Workforce Signing Day, taking place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Tyson Events Center. For this inaugural event, we have partnered with Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, Dakota Valley School District, Elk Point-Jefferson School District, Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School District, Sioux City Career Academy, Sioux City Community School District, Siouxland Christian School, and the South Sioux City Community School District, to identify graduating seniors who have chosen to enter the workforce or serve in the military rather than pursue a post-secondary education. However, if your company has identified a graduating senior you plan to hire following graduation, please email Laura Hartman and we will make sure they are included in this special event.   This event was created to celebrate students who are entering the workforce after graduation and give them their own moment of recognition. It also provides an opportunity to highlight our Chamber members who are investing in and retaining young talent right here in Siouxland. Wednesday, May 6, 2026 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Tyson Events Center 401 Gordon Drive Sioux City, IA 51101   The program will include a brief welcome, keynote speaker, and a signing ceremony recognizing these students as they begin their professional careers. A reception with refreshments will follow, and parents, teachers, and friends are all invited to attend.   If a school identifies a student who will be joining your company, we will follow up with additional details. Each participating company will have its own table and the opportunity to display signage or a step-and-repeat backdrop if desired. We also encourage employers to consider bringing a welcome bag or company swag to help celebrate their newest team members.   Workforce Signing Day is sponsored by our Stakeholder members   If you have any questions or would like to participate, please don’t hesitate to reach out. They will have an open house with appetizers and refreshments for Chamber members. During the event, they’ll be giving away 10 “Free Pizza for a Year” prizes, and Dane Louis will be performing live on the patio from 6–9 PM. Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom is a casual dining restaurant known for its handmade pizza dough, creative menu, and extensive craft beer selection. Old Chicago strongly supports local breweries, local schools and sports teams, and local charities. They have an extensive happy hour and wrap around patio with three garage doors.

Sioux City Metro Bike to Work Day May 15, 2026 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM                                                                       The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, SIMPCO, Siouxland District Health Department, Downtown Partners, and the City of Sioux City have partnered together again this year to host Bike to Work Day. Bike to Work Day, endorsed by the U.S. Department of Transportation and promoted by the League of American Bicyclists, is part of a national effort throughout the month of May to highlight the benefits of bicycling and to offer proof that it is feasible to leave the car at home for some commutes.   Trade your car for your bike for the Sioux City Metro Bike to Work Day on May 15th. If you can't bike all the way from home, don't worry, you can still participate. Bring your bike to work, unload it, ride some of our tri-state trails, and then stop by the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce for a complimentary breakfast, health & fitness vendors, and a chance to win prizes. Breakfast is hosted in the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce parking lot from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM.
