I have my BA in studio arts (emphasis in sculpture) and psychology from UNI. I also have my MA in art therapy and clinical counseling from Adler Graduate School. As an art therapist, I specialize in senior and dementia populations. In my own art, I mix in art therapy techniques and enjoy exploring all kinds of materials. I love playing with textures, movement, and beauty. Beauty, for me, is something I find in nature, animals, people, aging, and emotions. Oftentimes, I use mixed media from nature and recycled materials, along with traditional art materials. I sometimes incorporate humor in my artwork because we all need a laugh!

Join North Star for our third most ducky, dare we say, most quack-tacular "Duck Dash 5k & Duckling (Kid's) Fun Run," happening in the morning, just before our 4th Annual Great Rubber Duck Splash, which is our rubber duck race fundraiser. The 5K begins at 7:30 am. The cost is $25 without a t-shirt and $35 with a t-shirt. The race includes a participant medal and the 5K will be timed. Fun duck-themed costumes are welcome and encouraged! The route will begin near the Paw Park in Cedar Falls, Iowa and is an "out & back" along the beautiful bike trail along South Main, under Greenhill Road, to the turn-around and back. The super-ducky Kid's Fun Run will happen right after the 5K and will begin at 8:30, it will take place on the Jennings Drive Trail and once around The Falls Aquatic Center. The cost for the Fun Run is free or $10 with a t-shirt. Each child will receive a participant gift. Following the race, we hope you will consider stopping by our Great Rubber Duck Splash at The Falls, being held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. We will have food trucks and fun kid activities. Admission to the event is free with a minimum of one $5 duck adoption - but feel free to adopt more for more chances to win!

Join us for North Star's 4th Annual Duck Race "Great Rubber Duck Splash" happening July 19th at the The Falls Aquatic Center in Cedar Falls from 9-11 a.m. (the ducks race at 10:00 am) What is a Duck Race? It is a fundraiser for North Star. You adopt (buy) rubber ducks for $5 to be part of a race. On race day your adopted duck(s) are launched into the water at The Falls, with hundreds & hundreds of other ducks, and they "swim" to the finish line. First prize is $1,000!! There will be some fun Duckling (Kid) activities like balloon art and face-painting, you can swim and there will food available to purchase.

We're thrilled to bring back the Cedar Valley Intern Connect program for our 2025 Summer Interns. Its aim is simple yet impactful – to foster connections among interns and immerse them in the vibrant community of the Cedar Valley, enticing them to consider it as their future home post-college. Your intern will participate in two sessions this summer, scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th and Tuesday, July 22nd, both running from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. During these sessions, they'll engage in networking activities, forge meaningful relationships with fellow interns, and connect with other young professionals in the Cedar Valley. Additionally, they'll learn a little bit about the history of the area, discover exciting local attractions, and gain valuable insights into housing options for their post-college transition. *When you register for this event, you are also registering for a 2nd session on Tuesday, July 22nd.  **Please register for each intern individually at your organization. You can enter the name of the representative from your organization if you do not have all of your interns information yet (name, email address, etc.).

Do you love your community? The Downtown Waterloo Support Local Cash Mob is a group of people who assemble at local businesses to make purchases. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community right here in Waterloo. Support Local Cash Mobs are community events where we show up at a business, spend at least $20, meet new people, and have fun! The Cash Mobs are hosted the 4th Tuesday of each month.
