These applications will be due by the 23rd of March. At that time, a date and time will be established for the written essay portion of the competition. Either before or after the school day, students will assemble at the same time (no exceptions) and be given a topic, upon which they will have one hour to complete an essay of one to two type written pages. These essays will be composed in the library. Topics will be broad but will require support of one's ideas. The date of the essay will be disclosed at a later date.

The Ell-Saline Booster Club announces its scholarship program available to the current graduation class of Ell-Saline High School. Five scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded this year by The Ell-Saline Booster Club and are for one year, non-renewable. To be eligible, the applicants must have attended the Ell-Saline High School for the last four semesters,  have a minimum of a 2.8 GPA, and have been accepted to a Vo-Technical School, a two-year college, or a four-year college. Applicants will be rated on their leadership, school spirit, participation in school activities, community involvement, grades, and whether family members are active members of the booster club. Applications may be picked up from the Guidance Counselor at the Ell-Saline High School and must be returned to the Counselor by March 26th. The checks will require co-signatures with the college or Vocational Technical School and will be applied to the enrollment/tuition fee of the second semester after satisfactory completion of the first semester. Students who hope to be selected for this scholarship must be of high moral character, hard-working, and deserving. To qualify, students must: 1. Be a senior on pace to graduate from Ell-Saline High School 2. Be attending post-secondary education following their graduation 3. Either have a 2.5-3.5 GPA or an ACT score of 18-24 4. Write a one-page essay about a non-family person who has inspired them to be either hard-working or of high moral character. Essays will be judged primarily on the effort and thoughtfulness with which they are written. Finalists will have character traits scored by all Ell-Saline staff. Multiple scholarships may be awarded. Scholarship funds will be sent to the post-secondary educational institution. Scholarship application deadline is March 31st. Students can apply for this scholarship from now through March 31 by using the following registration link: 2026 Scholarship and Avanza Sponsorship – Organization of Latino Actuaries The Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) furthers its mission by awarding academic scholarships to students who will be attending a US college/university during the Fall 2026 - Summer 2027 academic year. Applications will be evaluated on various criteria including, but not limited to, academic performance, commitment to pursuing the actuarial profession, exam progress, work experience, and leadership experience. The Knights of Columbus was founded on March 29, 1882 as a fraternal benefit Society. The Knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief, and public relief works. The Knights of Columbus has grown from a few members in 1 council, to more than 13,000 councils and 1.9 million members throughout the United States and around the world. The order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity, patriotism, and fraternity. As part of the educational opportunities that the Knights of Columbus offer, the local Council #601 has set up a scholarship fund for one $1000 scholarship to be awarded annually. Below is the criteria for this Knights of Columbus Senior Scholarship:  ● Applicants must be a Catholic male  ● Applicants must be graduating from high school  ● Applicants must be a registered member of one of the Salina Catholic Churches (Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Mary’s, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Joseph, Brookville)  ● Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution which includes: University, Community College, or Vocational Technical School  ● The scholarship funds will be presented to the recipient after a letter of confirmation from the institution attending is presented to the Grand Knight of Council #601 The scholarship will be awarded in May 2026.
