The SIMON House of Kentucky’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the inaugural Capital City Bourbon Ball Gala event taking place during National Bourbon Week on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Ashbrook Hotel in historic downtown Frankfort. The event is proud to feature Buffalo Trace Distillery and a sampling of their bourbon collection paired with an assortment of savory and sweet Southern flavors created by The Ashbrook culinary team for the ultimate bourbon tasting experience. This one-of-a kind bourbon event also includes live music, a complimentary signature cocktail, a cash bar, a silent auction with bourbon-themed items and other items, and a special live auction featuring a rare whiskey offering and much more. Camp Fido, led by LIFE House For Animals volunteer and local educator Wendy Ridenour, is a summer camp for kids that brings education, art, and for fun for kids with the shelter's adoptable dogs and cats. Week 1 of Camp Fido is for kids ages 8-10. Week 1 is from June 16 - June 20 from 8 AM - 12noon each day. Camp Fido costs $175 for the week and includes a t-shirt and all supplies. Come out to the LIFE House For Animals (14 Fido Ct, Frankfort, KY 40601) on Wednesday, June 18th @ 5:30 PM ET to check out a dog for the evening. We welcome adults, kids (with adult supervision), potential adopters - anyone - to come out to get some exercise for yourself and our canine guests. You can take a dog out for a walk around our facility, or you can take a dog out to the park, to Starbucks for a pup cup, to Feeders Supply, downtown Frankfort - the choice is yours! We ask that you bring the dog back by 7 PM ET. We will harness the dog for you and give you a bag of treats, poop bags, water bowl and water bottle, and contact info for LIFE House For Animals. No pre-registration is necessary - just show up! First come, first serve. **Sponsored by David Dooley of Century 21.**

*Proud Sponsor: First Federal Savings Bank of Kentucky Join us for our summertime Doggy Book Club during the months of June and July! The Doggy Book Club events are ideal for kids ages 7-11 but don't worry - we don't ID! Any child or teen is welcome to participate. From 10 AM - 12noon every Thursday in June and July, kids can come to the LIFE House For Animals shelter with an adult to read to our dogs (or cats). Kids can bring whatever book they want and can work with our Doggy Book Club volunteer to find the perfect dog (or cat) who will listen attentively to them read out loud. Kids can read for however long they'd like during the 2 hour timeframe of the event. Kids will also get to do a craft! No RSVP is required and the event is free. June dates are: - 6/5 - 6/12 - 6/19 - 6/26
