The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park and the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve present a Jazz Program featuringFelipe Antonio’s Jazz EnsembleSaturday at 3:00 pm At the National Park Service French Quarter Visitor Center 419 Decatur St New Orleans Felipe Antonio is a versatile guitarist composer and educator from São Paulo Brazil. He plays Brazilian jazz swing funk rock fusion and more. Felipe Antonio started playing guitar at a young age back in Brazil and was highly influenced by Brazilian music as well as blues jazz rock classic rock classical funk fusion and more. Eventually he moved to the U.S where he studied jazz guitar performance. He pursued a Bachelor of Music in guitar performance a Master of Music in guitar performance and a Graduate Certificate in guitar performance at the University of Arkansas.In New Orleans where you can find Felipe playing with his own group or performing with other groups such as Cristina Kaminis or The Villains in the music venues around Frenchmen Street or the French Quarter.This program is free and open to the public.

Louisiana Through Wild Eyes: A Dual Vision of Lens and Brush Louisiana Through Wild Eyes is a collaborative traveling art exhibit by photographer Dave McNamara and watercolor artist Katherine Klimitas. The exhibit explores the rich and untamed beauty of Louisiana wildlife. Each show features a unique pairing of Dave’s striking wildlife photography with Katherine’s expressive watercolor interpretations. They offer two distinct yet harmonious perspectives of the same subject. As the exhibit travels new works are introduced and the collection evolves. This evolution makes each opening a one-of-a-kind experience. Through Wild Eyes invites viewers to see Louisiana’s animals through both the lens and the brush—two visions one wild story. Katherine Klimitas – Artist & EntrepreneurKatherine Klimitas is a New Orleans–based watercolor artist designer and entrepreneur. She is known for her incredibly detailed and emotionally rich animal and wildlife paintings. Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type III—brittle bone disease. She had already broken more than 500 bones by the time she was ten. Because sitting upright is difficult Katherine creates her artwork while lying down. This process has become a defining part of her technique and perspective.Katherine is best known for her lifelike pet portraits and wildlife pieces. She captures expressive eyes and tiny details that bring each subject vividly to life. Through her business KAK ART & Designs LLC founded in 2011 she has expanded her work. Her work now includes signed prints ornaments giftware and a range of custom commissions that ship nationwide.In addition to painting she is also an accomplished graphic designer. She partners with local organizations events and small businesses to bring creative ideas to life. Dave McNamara – Photographer & StorytellerDave McNamara is a native of south Louisiana. He has worked 50 years as a broadcast journalist videographer and documentary producer. He has traveled across Louisiana capturing stories of its people culture and history as a long-time television feature reporter. McNamara has been immersed in the state’s most beautiful landscapes of bayous swamps and cypress forests.In 2009 McNamara created Heart of Louisiana a weekly television feature for WVUE-TV in New Orleans. He worked as a one-man band producing shooting writing and editing. He has journeyed through all 64 parishes uncovering the beauty and spirit of his home state. His years behind the video camera evolved into a passion for landscape and wildlife photography. This is where he now captures those same fleeting moments of light and nature through still images.McNamara’s photography extends beyond Louisiana to the Gulf Coast and America’s National Parks. Here he finds inspiration in the quiet drama of sunrise fog and starlit skies. Through his website HeartofLouisiana.com he continues to share his stories and images. His work invites others to experience the wonder and beauty of the natural world.

Catie joined the faculty at Loyola in 2023 thanks to an endowment given by the late Connie Jones one of her former teachers. Catie hopes to inspire her students to carry on the torch of heartfelt music making and to train them so well that she sees them at all her gigs…on the bandstand!Catie Rodgers is a graduate of The University of New Orleans. She leads the traditional jazz band The Gentilly Stompers as well as Catie Rodgers & Her Swing Orchestra an 18-piece big band specializing in music for dancers. Memorable “side musician” work includes the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra the Latin Grammy Winning mariachi band Flor de Toloache NYC’s salsa band Lulada Club and playing with the daughters of Louis Prima and Judy Garland (Lena Prima and Lorna Luft respectively). Important mentors and teachers include Connie Jones Banu Gibson Matt Perrine and Doug Reneau.This program is free and open to the public.

This event will be a mix of interview and live performance. Fred Kasten is an independent contributing radio producer/host at WWNO. After working at WWNO for over 20 years as an on-air talent producer and program director Fred retired from full-time work in May of 2007. Fred is a native of Mobile Alabama a graduate of the University of Alabama and a long-time resident of New Orleans. In addition to his work at WWNO Fred develops independent audio projects from a home studio producing radio features commercials and podcasts. Fred also does marketing and media consulting for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.Philip Manuel is a distinguished New Orleans jazz vocalist whose poised polished and gracefully lithe voice has captivated audiences for more than three decades. Greatly influenced by Ella Fitzgerald Manuel brings warmth elegance and emotional depth to every performance. His rich baritone has been heard in countless settings—from jingles and commercials to international tours with Terence Blanchard and Bill Summers. Encouraged early on by Aaron Neville to take the leap into live performance Manuel has since graced stages from New York to Los Angeles and from Portugal to Paris performing alongside some of the biggest names in jazz.Often described as dramatic warm and full of soul Manuel’s voice is said to charm and seduce with an effortless range and refined phrasing. His 2019 album PM showcases him at his soulful R& B best featuring twelve original compositions and marking a bold departure from his jazz-centered catalog. Beyond music Manuel is also an accomplished actor writer and sought-after voiceover talent with appearances in classic New Orleans films such as Cane River and The Big Uneasy—further highlighting the breadth of his artistic reach.This program is free and open to the public.

Through Wild Eyes invites viewers to see Louisiana’s animals through both the lens and the brush—two visions one wild story. Katherine Klimitas – Artist & EntrepreneurKatherine Klimitas is a New Orleans–based watercolor artist designer and entrepreneur. She is known for her incredibly detailed and emotionally rich animal and wildlife paintings. Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type III—brittle bone disease. She had already broken more than 500 bones by the time she was ten. Because sitting upright is difficult Katherine creates her artwork while lying down. This process has become a defining part of her technique and perspective.Katherine is best known for her lifelike pet portraits and wildlife pieces. She captures expressive eyes and tiny details that bring each subject vividly to life. Through her business KAK ART & Designs LLC founded in 2011 she has expanded her work. Her work now includes signed prints ornaments giftware and a range of custom commissions that ship nationwide.In addition to painting she is also an accomplished graphic designer. She partners with local organizations events and small businesses to bring creative ideas to life. Dave McNamara – Photographer & StorytellerDave McNamara is a native of south Louisiana. He has worked 50 years as a broadcast journalist videographer and documentary producer. He has traveled across Louisiana capturing stories of its people culture and history as a long-time television feature reporter. McNamara has been immersed in the state’s most beautiful landscapes of bayous swamps and cypress forests.In 2009 McNamara created Heart of Louisiana a weekly television feature for WVUE-TV in New Orleans. He worked as a one-man band producing shooting writing and editing. He has journeyed through all 64 parishes uncovering the beauty and spirit of his home state. His years behind the video camera evolved into a passion for landscape and wildlife photography. This is where he now captures those same fleeting moments of light and nature through still images.McNamara’s photography extends beyond Louisiana to the Gulf Coast and America’s National Parks. Here he finds inspiration in the quiet drama of sunrise fog and starlit skies. Through his website HeartofLouisiana.com he continues to share his stories and images. Rossignoli folds many traditions into his music from his classical music formation to his passion for Latin and North American jazz. He has also established his reputation in various settings and bands including the EXTENDED trio with Matt Booth and Brad Webb and by leading his own quartet. He collaborates on a wide range of projects with artists such as John Boutté Jason Marsalis Joe Dyson Dee Dee Bridgewater and Alexey Marti among many others. This program is free and open to the public.

Over the last several years Sasha has performed with her band at major clubs and festivals across the United States and abroad.Sasha’s approach to music is as playful charismatic and spontaneous as her personality. Her influences draw from jazz to electronic music to rock and she performs frequently in fully improvised settings to help cultivate her exotic style. Sasha has earned a reputation internationally as a daring fearless improviser and a charming interpreter working often alongside other progressive genre-defying musicians such as Nicholas Payton Jason Lindner Zach Danziger Kevin Scott Adonis Rose Tarionna “Tank” Ball Sullivan Fortner Mike Moreno and Aurora Nealand to name a few.This program is free and open to the public.

Catie joined the faculty at Loyola in 2023 thanks to an endowment given by the late Connie Jones one of her former teachers. Catie hopes to inspire her students to carry on the torch of heartfelt music making and to train them so well that she sees them at all her gigs…on the bandstand!Catie Rodgers is a graduate of The University of New Orleans. She leads the traditional jazz band The Gentilly Stompers as well as Catie Rodgers & Her Swing Orchestra an 18-piece big band specializing in music for dancers. Memorable “side musician” work includes the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra the Latin Grammy Winning mariachi band Flor de Toloache NYC’s salsa band Lulada Club and playing with the daughters of Louis Prima and Judy Garland (Lena Prima and Lorna Luft respectively). Important mentors and teachers include Connie Jones Banu Gibson Matt Perrine and Doug Reneau.This program is free and open to the public.
