Hannah Cyrus, BPLâs Digital Media Librarian, is available for 60-minute appointments to help you with your computer questions in-person, by phone, or over Zoom.Want to organize your emails? Having trouble using a particular website or program? Wondering why that annoying message keeps popping up on your screen? Whatever your question, Hannah will work with you to find an answer and help you to solve your problems.Appointments are available on Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. To ensure appointments are available for all, we ask that you sign up for no more than one appointment slot at a time.While we canât guarantee a solution to every issue, we are happy to work together in searching for one. We all grieve losses in our life â whether it be from a death, illness divorce, loss of a job, or any kind of change that robs us of what our life used to be like. This book group will feature books on death and loss as well as discussions on how we can deal with these challenges and move ahead in our lives to a new normal. It is an opportunity to work through your grief in an untraditional way. Next Chapter Book Club is a community-based book club for adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our members (including some who cannot read) love books for the same reasons most people do. We all enjoy being transported to different worlds where we meet interesting characters and learn new things. Taking that journey with a group of friends makes it even more delightful and fun. The Next Chapter Book Club has chapters in the US, Canada, and Europe. Bangor Public Library is the only affiliate in Maine.This group meets each Thursday at 2 PM at the library. Read to a dog from the Northern Light therapy dog volunteer program! Please register for a 15 minute slot in advance: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/67753742025Did you know?Studies have found that youth literacy skills are improved by reading to therapy dogs.Children gain confidence in reading and report an increased love of reading after reading out loud to a therapy dog.Come to the library's Story Room this Saturday to read to Koda, a therapy dog from Northern Light. Koda will be there from noon to 2 to be read to for 15 minutes at a time.Readers must sign up in advance for one of the 15-minute time slots.
