A 3-hour block of time with a studio artist present to give you a chance to start a new clay project or finish something you have started. They are held in our state-of the-art clay studio where we have all the equipment you need to drop in and work independently on your ceramics project, share ideas with other participants, develop techniques, experiment, and help us build a lively community around clay! Community Clay is great for folks who have taken one of our classes and want more time on a project or at the wheel; they are great for folks who learned wheel throwing or hand building in another space but their skills have lapsed and they need a refresher; and they are great for folks who have ceramics experience but lack the equipment to create at home. Join us and feel the power of clay! Ages 5+ are welcome but children under 14 MUST be accompanied by a participating adult.

These May flowers don't need April showers! Join us for a 20-minute special mini-session to sculpt your very own flower out of molten glass!   Working with a skilled instructor, you will go over basic safety information, learn about tools used in hot glass sculpting, and choose your colors. Your instructor will then guide you through the steps for creating a one-of-a-kind glass flower.   No previous experience creating with hot glass is necessary. One flower can be made per session. To make the experience even more memorable, bring a friend or two, and sign up for multiple sessions so that you can each make your own. Your piece will need to cool in the annealer overnight to prevent cracking. It will be available for pickup at the reception desk outside the Waterfall Arts gallery, on the next regular business day.

Don’t let your lack of studio equipment be an obstacle! Waterfall Arts has well-furnished and staffed facilities for artists of all skill levels to drop in and work independently on their own projects. In addition to providing a workspace and tools, the studios at Waterfall Arts provide a forum for sharing ideas, developing techniques, and experimentation, as well as an opportunity for building community. Artists working in all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to get involved. Drop-in rate is $20 for this 3-hour session. Maximum 5 artists during Open Studios. About the Studio Monitor: MF Morison hails from the west coast where she was primarily known as a metalsmith, apprenticing under Stieg Gusterman (Georgetown, CO) and Thomas Schlicting (Amsterdam). Using acid etch in many processes, she continued to explore this medium, resulting in attending S.F. Art Institute, studying printmaking under the tutelage of Michi Itami. While in SF, MF also worked out of U.C. Berkeley Open Studio and Fort Mason Print Department. Upon her arrival to Midcoast Maine, MF shelved printmaking for a time until she became aware of the Waterfall Arts Printmaking Studio. Since then she has been consistently enthralled and engaged with printmaking, primarily working with copper plate intaglio etching with use of embossment and chine colle. Did you know that it has been over 100 years since alewives have been able to swim directly from the Atlantic Ocean to China Lake in East Vassalboro? Participate in a cycling tour covering a 14-mile stretch while stopping at various fish ladders and dam removals that facilitate the alewives' return to their native lake. This will be an informative naturalist tour exploring the different dams within the area, the history behind the removal of some dams, and the creation of fish ladders at others to enable the passage of alewives to their native spawning ground. We will include a stop for a picnic lunch in East Vassalboro.    Join us for an engaging ride with the Alewives, where you can also gain new insights. This event is free of charge and welcomes individuals who enjoy riding road bikes, cross bikes, or e-bikes. The ride will proceed at a moderate pace and include several stops to explore historical sites. Participants are required to have a spare tube, to wear bright-colored clothing and a helmet.  Don't forget your lunch!   The riding route map: Alewives Bike Ride - 14 Miles - MapMyRide  Limited to 12 participants and registration will be required.   Difficulty Rating 4 - Moderate   Difficulty Rating Definition: Fitness level and/or past experience to sustain the activity at a moderate pace is required. Community Clay Studio for kids is a NON-INSTRUCTIONAL time for kids 5 and up to explore in our clay studio. This is not a class, but a time to play and build community. Community Clay Studio on Wednesday afternoon is for kids only (we ask that parents drop off, wait outside the building, or in the hallway). Limit 10 participants. $15 per child. Work can be fired for an extra minimal charge.   CASS students can take the bus to Waterfall after school, with advanced notice. A legal guardian must use the parent portal, call, or send a notice to the school office or students will be sent home on their regular bus.

Bagaduce Music presents vocalist Mia Bertelli as part of its Second Wednesday House Party series. Known for her sensitive delivery and genre-spanning approach, Bertelli blends influences from world singing traditions, Irish and Appalachian balladry, Scandinavian music, and elements of pop, jazz, and soul. Her performances move fluidly between styles, offering a dynamic and intimate musical experience. For this special concert, Bertelli will be joined by a rotating group of collaborators, creating a vibrant mix of sounds and instruments in a relaxed, house-concert setting.
