“Bits of Belfast History” is the topic for the Belfast Historical Society meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday July 27, in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library. Sam Fuller, of Stockton Springs, collector of Maine bottles, stoneware and exonumia, will present Belfast related items from his vast collection of medicinal bottles, fraternal badges and pins, novelties, and commercial advertising collectibles. Many of his collected Belfast bits have come from local flea markets. Sam’s extensive knowledge will both educate and entertain. The Belfast Historical Society presents talks of local historical interest on the 4th Monday of the month from April through October. All presentations are at 7:00pm in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library and are open to the public. Seating is limited to 75. FMI visit BelfastMuseum.org or call 207 338-9229. These programs will be recorded and can be viewed on Belfast Community Television and on the museum website.

Members of Belfast Senior College’s “History with Pizzazz” study group celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary with tales of ordinary people from Belfast and across Maine who experienced extraordinary events during the Revolution. They tell of seamen turned privateers with the blessing of the Continental Congress and of Wabanakis who embraced the Patriot cause. They speak of resolute women who defied female standards of decorum in times of trouble. They track the fate of long-suffering families who evacuated Belfast in 1779 after British forces decimated the American fleet sent to destroy the Loyalist stronghold at Castine. Speakers include Deb Douthart, Barbara Ford-Latty, Rick Gatewood and Spencer Stephens. We invite you to this FREE and open to the public presentation by the History with Pizzazz Study Group, Tuesday, June 30 at 3:30 PM at the Belfast Free Library.
