Rising singer-songwriter and global citizen Eli Lev is making the world a smaller place, one song at a time. Eli pens lyrics and melodies for everyday enlightenment—songs that resonate because they’re heartfelt, earthy, and offer the wisdom he’s gained through lifelong travel and self-discovery. Prior to becoming a full time musician, the Silver Spring, MD native spent three years as an 8th grade English teacher on the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona. The indigenous traditions he learned during this time are the inspiration for his Four Directions project. Just as each cardinal direction holds unique characteristics in the Navajo tradition, so do each of the albums in Eli’s ‘Four Directions Project.’ Together, the series imaginatively and intrepidly connects spheres and generations within a body of work that is irresistibly uplifting, emotionally resonant, and down-to-earth authentic. Eli explains, “We are surrounded by four directions, and each has distinctive attributes, powers, and teachings according to Navajo traditions. For example, because the sun rises in the east, it is the first direction and source of new ideas and inspiration. With that in mind, I started my EP series in 2017 with All Roads East, echoing the sounds of my youth and upbringing (Alt-Country/Americana). I released Way Out West the following year, where I experimented with the frontiers of folk tropes and melodies (Indie Folk). For 2019’s Deep South, I went back to my southern roots with a truly modern and powerful sound (Folk Rock/Pop). From May 5-May 30, 2025, Art of Biddeford presents: ALTERED STATES AND OTHER REALITIES: Martha Miller + Kaitlyn Miller at The Foundry (30 Upper Falls Road, Biddeford, ME) by appointment and weekly-announced gallery hours. Please join us for the Artist Reception during April’s third Friday (5/16) between 5-8pm. This is a free event and open to the public. Within landscapes, self-portraits and narratives inspired by the intersection of the nature surrounding us as well as our own inner-nature (intuition, psychology, dreams and the subconscious and unconscious minds), things aren’t always as they seem. Colors are heightened, memories and impressions are layered and fluid. Martha Miller and Kaitlyn Miller both will be exhibiting paintings and mixed-media works together, as well as presenting their collaborative ceramics works under the name Blue Tale Pottery for the duration of May. Curated by Julie K. Gray for Art of Biddeford, this exhibition invites you to revel in and question our daily perceptions of reality: the surrounding, physical landscape around you as well as the inner-workings of our psyche. The exhibition space, The Foundry at The Levee, is being provided by Reveler Development. ARTWALK GARDINER Free and open to everyone Exhibition Dates: Friday, May 16 Hours: 5:00 - 8:00 pm Location: Historic Downtown Gardiner, ME ARTWALK GARDINER is celebrating 20 years of art and community! Join us Friday, May 16th from 5 - 8 pm for our spring event. Local artists will be exhibiting their works in shops, galleries, artists’ studios, and other venues throughout Historic Downtown Gardiner. In tandem with ARTWALK GARDINER, a special community photography project, Community Faces, will be underway, as well as the donation drop off for the Annual Gardiner Public Library Plant Sale. Special guest, Elliot Gilg will be lighting up the streets with their musical performance. Enjoy Gardiner’s downtown as it blossoms with art, music, and family-friendly fun. Do not miss the Community Faces photo station at ARTWALK GARDINER. Community Faces is a public art project that elevates and celebrates the many people who are engaged in the local arts and various community building activities, capturing the diversity and scope of all those who are helping Gardiner grow and flourish. Several outdoor large-scale mosaic murals, created from individual ‘headshot’ photographs taken during ARTWALK GARDINER, will be installed with wheat-paste on public walls of Gardiner’s downtown. For those who cannot attend, there will be other photo opportunities throughout the rest of May and June. Check the website for updates! ARTWALK GARDINER was established in 2005 by Artdogs Studios in collaboration with a handful of artists from the Gardiner area.
