Midcoast favorites Elsie Gawler and Ethan Stokes Tischler will perform at the Underground Lounge in Belfast on Thursday, April 2. Doors open at 6:30pm and the concert begins at 7:00pm. Gawler and Tischler are New England songwriters and instrumentalists whose music draws from traditional and contemporary folk influences. Their performances weave together original songs and tunes with musical traditions from New England, QuĂŠbec, Celtic, and Scandinavian sources, highlighting their shared love of melody, storytelling, and place. A musician rooted in Maineâs traditional folk culture, Elsie Gawler has performed throughout the region with the Gawler Family Band and the Gawler Sisters. She is also a songwriter and bandleader whose debut album Sweet As Honey features original songs inspired by community and the natural world. Ethan Stokes Tischler is a Maine-based musician and educator originally from Vermontâs Champlain Valley. Performing primarily on acoustic guitar and vocals, he also plays fiddle, banjo, and electric guitar, bringing a thoughtful approach to songwriting and arrangement. Since forming their duo in 2019, Gawler and Tischler have developed a warm, collaborative sound that blends original music with traditional influences. UUCB Concerts for a Cause presents Chelsea Berry at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick on Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. to raise money for Oasis Free Clinics and Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project. Chelsea Berry is a powerhouse vocalist and performer based in Gouldsboro, Maine and has been dubbed âthe Pink of folk music.â She is a singer-songwriter with the edge and finesse of legends. Her shows are driven by her dynamic stage presence, heartfelt lyrics and stories, and masterful writing, evoking the style of artists such as Eva Cassidy and KD Lang. She has released 10 original albums over her 25 year career and has collaborated on projects with dozens of other writers and performers. Her music is played regularly on Sirius XMâs The Loft and has been featured on local radio and TV stations from Modesto to Manhattan. A favorite among venue owners up and down the East coast, she has performed at Bostonâs House of Blues, Carnegie Hall in NYC, the Shalin Liu in Rockport, MA, Eddieâs Attic in Atlanta, World Cafe Live in Philadelphia and more.
