Have fun learning how to work with different types of glass in this 2 and ½ hour workshop! Each student will learn to cut and shape sheet glass using both hand tools and bit grinders. Your unique art will be fired to a tack fuse, creating a textured work of art to display on a shelf or windowsill. Your beautiful creation will be available for pick-up the week following the class.

$200Friday, 5/8 – 6/1212pm to 3pm A basic and thorough introduction to drawing, working from a variety of still life setups. For those who love to draw, a drawing fundamentals refresher experience is a bonus. In this 6-week class, we’re going to take the “still life” to a new level. We’ll go beyond representation of the arrangement itself, to finding structure on the page. This means thinking about basic drawing issues: size and placement of information/ accurate measurement/ figure-ground interaction/ editing/ focal points/ compositional integration/ managed mark making. Drawing is about taking what we see and translating it into the language of the visual. No experience necessary, great for beginners and as practice sessions for those who love to draw! Materials list will be provided upon registration.

$55Saturday, 5/910am to 3pm, 20-minute slots These May flowers don’t need April showers! Join us for a 20-minute special mini-session to sculpt your very own flower out of molten glass! Working with a skilled instructor, you will go over basic safety information, learn about tools used in hot glass sculpting, and choose your colors. Your instructor will then guide you through the steps for creating a one-of-a-kind glass flower. No previous experience creating with hot glass is necessary. One flower can be made per session. To make the experience even more memorable, bring a friend or two, and sign up for multiple sessions so that you can each make your own. Your piece will need to cool in the annealer overnight to prevent cracking. It will be available for pickup at the reception desk outside the Waterfall Arts gallery, on the next regular business day.
