The National Park Service, in collaboration with the Calais Free Library, will read a different book aloud for six-weeks consecutive Tuesdays. The first reading and activity day is June 17th and the last will be July 22nd.The park ranger will read a different book each week.This weeks is 'Anna's Table' which tells the story of a girl who gathers items from nature for a specialtable given to her by her aunt.The program is designed for Kindergarten through third grade, though older are welcome.

This book celebrates the wildlife, geography, and magic of Maine through the birthday stories and special wishes of anmal friends.The program is designed for Kindergarten through third grade, though older are welcome.

Using the landscape and historic photographs we will walk the interpretive path and focus on work and labor in the Red Beach area -- now part of Calais. While the focus is local we will also take a slightly broader view of labor and the United States during the last 250-plus years.This walk will be about 1,000 steps and will involve walking down about a dozen stairs and walking up a hill at the end.  Come ready to find out about labor in the area and to share your thoughts and insights during this interactive program. All ages welcome.

We will start and end at the park visitor center.
