Bring history to life with Fort McHenry’s living historians as they demonstrate muskets cannon drills and other historic weapons essential to the daily lives of soldiers who would have been stationed at the fort throughout its history. Discover how these tools of war helped shape the defense of Baltimore during the War of 1812.Each program runs approximately 10–15 minutes and may include live firing demonstrations weather permitting. (Please note that firings are not guaranteed.) Located at the Water Battery Exhibit adjacent to accessible paved paths. Pets are welcome on leash although loud noises may startle them. This program is included with park admission no separate reservation is required.

Music played an important role in the daily lives of soldiers garrisoned at Fort McHenry. A soldiers entire day would revolve around the sounds of fifes and drums. Join living historians in the famous "Fort McHenry Guard Fife and Drum Corps" as they play period music and share the history of music's role at Fort McHenry.*These performances last 10–15 minutes, are weather-dependent, and take place within Historic Star Fort.

This year, Fort McHenry celebrates its 100th anniversary as a National Park Service site! On this program we'll explore the many defenders of Fort McHenry, from those who proteced Baltimore and inspired the writing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the War of 1812, to the U.S. soldiers who preserved the Union during the Civil War, to those who led the movement to preserve Fort McHenry as a national park in the early 20th century. This guided walk will explore the fort and the generations who served here through the ages.This 45-to-60-minute program begins at the visitor center and winds through the grounds and Historic Star Fort (entry fees apply). Pets are not allowed. Reservations are not required. The demonstration is designed for general accessibility, with brick and gravel paths throughout the historic zone. Be aware that some areas are not wheelchair accessible.
