The 13th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk, which raises funds for Cancer LifeNet, takes place Saturday, May 9, at 9 a.m. at The John Carroll School, 703 East Churchville Road in Bel Air. The Presenting Sponsor is Klein's ShopRite of Maryland.     Organized by the UM Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation and Chesapeake Cancer Alliance, the walk is held to celebrate, honor and remember those who have received a cancer diagnosis. This year's goal is to raise $125,000 to support Cancer LifeNet at the Kaufman Cancer Center at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.   Cancer LifeNet is a free-of-charge, supportive care program offered to all residents of Harford and Cecil counties, regardless of where they receive their cancer treatment. Cancer LifeNet is funded fully through philanthropy and is designed to help patients and their loved ones find the resources needed to balance work, family and cancer treatment. Over the past 20 years, more than 25,000 patients and family members have received supportive care services thanks to Cancer LifeNet.   Community members are invited to be part of the walk as a team captain, sponsor, participant and/or donor. Start out Mother’s Day weekend by putting on your sneakers and honoring your mom and all moms by supporting Choose Hope Women’s Center. Run or walk 5K or 1 Mile on the Ma and Pa Trail starting and finishing at Annie’s Playground. This race will be professionally chip timed by Blue Cheetah Sports Timing, LLC Parking is available onsite Packet pickup begins at 7:30 am on race morning at Annie's Playground. Race day packet pickup only.  All participants who register by April 18 will receive a race shirt.  After April 19, shirt sizes will be limited to those still available and are not guaranteed for those who register after 4/18. Water and snacks will be available after the race. Guided by Kristen Burton, an Equine Gestalt Coach, Reiki Practitioner, yoga teacher, and cancer survivor, this circle offers a safe space to process emotions, rediscover inner strength, and embrace self-love. Harford County Public Library Foundation hosts its Third Annual Taste of Harford on May 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Vignon Manor Farm, 425 Darlington Road in Havre de Grace. This popular eat local, buy local, shop local extravaganza showcases local restaurants, farms, breweries, wineries and distilleries—plus local artisans selling handcrafted goods.   Taste of Harford features more than 40 local food and drink partners, including restaurants, farmers, breweries and wineries. Each will provide guests with a “taste” of a specialty item, and all participants are encouraged to incorporate locally sourced ingredients in their recipes. A market area will showcase local artisans who will be selling handcrafted goods.
