About the ExhibitionFREE and Open to the public. Chloe Irla, Artist, Mom and Exhibition Organizer shares, “Each art piece is imbued with emotion, mess and hard work. I am proud of the diversity of the work included and the triumphs each work represents for the artists and their families. I hope that visitors take a second look at what threads together this impactful collection.” This exhibition hosts the unique art of six working moms. Each artist has triumphed over something very challenging. These pieces were born of the oxygen from these struggles. An emotional, impactful and unique show not to be missed.

The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House (Flag House) is putting out an open call for submissions of artwork samples for participation in the upcoming exhibit, “Maryland’s America: 250 Years of American History through Marylander Eyes.” Selected artists will be asked to create a unique piece that examines the last 250 years of American history through the lives and experiences of Marylanders past and present. The exhibit will run from July, 2026 to July, 2028. Additionally, the selected artists will be invited to participate in an exclusive program in partnership with Fort McHenry National Historic site and the Pride of Baltimore II, a recreation of the historical Baltimore clipper ships. This program will have the selected individuals take a complimentary sail through Baltimore’s harbor to the location Francis Scott Key witnessed the Star-Spangled Banner being raised triumphantly over Fort McHenry and recreate this historical witness. Exhibit overview:The Flag House is designing a two-year exhibit where eight Maryland artists representing their communities across the state will provide historical witness through individualized work. These works will culminate in a dynamic museum exhibit that coordinates public programming in commemoration of America’s Semiquincentennial. “Maryland’s America” will reflect on the ongoing evolution of American democracy, Maryland’s integral role in that process, and the impact of Marylanders on our nation’s past, present, and future. The Flag House is working with Adler Display to fabricate the exhibit and showcase the submitted final work to create a comprehensive story of the nation’s history from a Maryland perspective. The museum’s permanent exhibit, which was also designed by Adler Display, highlights female entrepreneurship in early America through the struggles and successes of the Young-Pickersgill family who were contracted to sew the original Star-Spangled Banner. Any medium or format will be considered. If selected, any final piece exceeding 4’L x 4’W x 5’H must be able to be disassembled and assembled onsite by Flag House staff. What started as a clever way to block curious eyes became a bold folk-art movement, turning rowhouse windows into vibrant canvases and everyday streets into open-air galleries. This is a First time /Preview screening of new Maryland Public Television documentary. Growing into Greatness is a public television-oriented documentary that highlights the natural grandeur of Maryland’s champion trees, the largest of their species in the U.S. and the film includes one 300-year-old national champion tree located in Westminster. The film is by Robert Lemieux, associate professor of Communication and Cinema, at McDaniel College. Made possible through a Carroll County Arts Council Community Arts Development Grant, with assistance from the Big Tree Program, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland State Arts Council. Donations are welcomed in support of Carroll County Arts Council Community Programs but are not required.
