Valuing Our Children provides us with Story Walks every Tuesday! Each page of a book is posted on a board. As you take a stroll down the Miller's River Walk (or through the second floor of the library during inclement weather), read the book together!

Have you ever wondered what judges actually do all day?  What happens inside a courthouse?  What do judges have to know, and what is law school really like, anyway?  Is there a difference between the kinds of cases seen in small towns like Orange and larger cities?  What is Restorative Justice?  What other innovative programs are happening in the world of law and justice?We are honored to welcome Judge Laurie MacLeod to the Athol Library to share her experiences.  MacLeod was first appointed by former Gov. Deval Patrick in 2009. Beginning her career as an attorney after she graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, she went on to work as an assistant district attorney and later for a private practice.  She now works in the Orange District Court just down the road.Ms. MacLeod's visit is made possible by the Judicial Speakers' Bureau.  There are more than 385 trial court judges in Massachusetts, and the Judicial Speakers' Bureau educates and informs the public about the work of the judicial branch and the importance of an impartial and independent judiciary governed by the Rule of Law.Free and open to the public.Please register.
