Grab your popcorn for this program series! Mondays in June we’re showing a series of films for Pride Month in our Activity Room! Features include a black & white classic, a teen coming of age, a cross country drive, and a documentary. Snacks provided, no registration required. Kiki (2017), Documentary, Unrated, 1hr 33min25 years after “Paris Is Burning” introduced the art of voguing to the world, Kiki revisits New York City’s thriving underground ballroom scene. It’s a larger-than-life world in which LGBTQ youths of color are empowered by staging elaborate dance competitions. It’s also a safe haven for struggling, at-risk teens who find acceptance within the Kiki community. Going beyond the glamour of the balls highlights the serious challenges facing queer black and Latino youth.Documentary is unrated, but contains discussions of difficult topics, lived experiences, and strong language. The Clapp Memorial Library and the Belchertown Creative Economy Committee invite you to the ViewFinder Nature Photography contest exhibit reception and awards ceremony on Tuesday, July 1st from 6-7pm The winning photographs will be exhibited at the Library throughout the month of July and announced publicly in June, and viewable on the Library website. The exhibition opening will include an awards ceremony to acknowledge the creative achievements of our local photographers in capturing the beauty and natural diversity of Belchertown. The ViewFinder program is funded in part by a grant from the Belchertown Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional funding is provided by the Friends of the Clapp Memorial Library.

Calling all Belchertown Teens for Summer D&DMondays, 4-5:30, July 7, 14, 21, & 28 Sign up to play in a Summer D&D campaign with GM Zia! The scenario takes place in Bremen, the remote village and part of the area collectively known as ten towns, located in Icewind Dale. Icewind dale is ruled by Auril the frostmaiden, who keeps a spell over the area, so that the sun will never rise and winter will never end. To keep the ire of the frost maiden at bay, all the villages of ten towns must sacrifice something, the biggest towns sacrifice people, the others food, and the smallest (like Bremen) who have nothing else to spare sacrifice warmth. When each of the adventurers was approached by a snow white great horned owl. The owl said that warmth was not enough, and neither was food, the thing that the frost maiden wanted was people. The adventurers have been tasked with finding a worthy sacrifice. The adventurers is player driven (though they are given a objective) and mainly heist based, with politics or combat as well (depending on what players choose) Space is limited! Starting on May 13th, we invite you to our next RPG campaign, Vaesen: The Lost Mountain Saga & Other Tales, a dark Gothic setting steeped in Nordic folklore and the old myths of Scandinavia! Dive into mysteries where old struggles against the new, and myths come alive.  No experience necessary. Welcome to the Mythic North – northern Europe of the nineteenth century, but not as we know it today. A land where the myths are real. A cold reach covered by vast forests, its few cities lonely beacons of industry and enlightenment – a new civilization dawning. But in the countryside, the old ways still hold sway. There, people know what lurks in the dark. They know to fear it. An ancient stone has been discovered in the dark caves of the Mythic North. Protected for thousands of years by creatures no longer walking this earth, these sacred stones were never meant to be found. However, as is the nature of human curiosity and greed, exploitation soon begins with little regard for potential risks or consequences. Players can expect to encounter ancient mysteries, old Nordic folk tales, social intrigue, and unspeakable horrors lurking in every shadow as they travel across the North and slowly uncover the truth. They will then be taught how to make their own one-page minizine using paper, markers, collage materials, and other supplies, and will leave the workshop with their own zine!
