This is a fun, interactive programs for kids under age 3 and their caregivers, live and in person! Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional behavior, and language in overall literacy. It helps the body and mind work together. Music also helps with fine motor skills. Children who are exposed to music during early development are helped to learn the sounds and meanings of words. This is a drop-in event and you do not need to register in advance. It will take place in the large meeting room at the back of the brick Town Hall building here at 7A Spofford Road. The Library hosts a club for those who crochet and all those interested in crocheting. The Crochet Club meets twice a month, at the library. The Club will meet around the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, depending on holidays. The Crochet Club welcomes all people who crochet and who want to meet with other crocheters. Come and share ideas, patterns, helpful hints, and problems you are having, or just hang out with others who like crochet as you do. No instruction will be offered but it is a time to share your projects and crochet issues with others who love to crochet. The Crochet Club is free but each person is responsible for their own supplies and materials. Come and join the Crochet Club and work on crochet projects in the company of others who love to crochet. Welcome to the Cookbook Club! Everyone is welcome to join our friendly, informal group. Copies of the month's pick will be available one month prior to the meeting. Please register online or by calling the library and let us know what dish you will bringing to avoid duplication. Our pick for June is Brilliant Bites: 75 Amazing Small Bites for Any Occasion by Maegan Brown (The BakerMama). Bite-sized food is described by The BakerMama blogger Brown (Beautiful Boards) as "meant to be enjoyed in one or two mouth bites" and "eaten with your fingers or decorative food pick." These tiny treats can be used for snacking, for parties, or for children. The food presented here goes beyond the typical charcuterie board fare, and there are many unique and adorable recipe ideas. The book is divided into thematic sections, such as "Breakfast Bites" and "Dessert Bites" and also includes a selection of inventive cocktail recipes. While some of the recipes require slightly more finesse and the skills of someone with a degree of experience in the kitchen, most are pretty straightforward and simple, so they will not be intimidating to cooking or baking novices. The ingredients tend to be common items that can be found in standard U.S. grocery stores and won't require readers to hunt them down at specialty stores. The pictures are colorful and exciting as well. Parents will learn how to: Create a family tech plan with their kids Take a slow-tech approach to introduce technology Teach their children about digital dangers and distractions About Andrea: Andrea Davis is a former secondary ed teacher turned screen time navigator. She is the founder of Better Screen Time where she shares family-tested ideas from the (tech) trenches as a mom of five. She is on a mission to help parents worry less about tech and connect more with their kids. Andrea is the author of Creating a Tech-Healthy Family and is certified by the Digital Wellness Institute. Everyone is welcome to join our friendly virtual evening book discussion group...just e-mail Beth at esafford@boxfordlibrary.org for the Zoom link. In June, for our last meeting before the summer break, we will be discussing  The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. Peters’s enthralling debut tracks the lives of two siblings from an Indigenous Canadian family working in Maine as seasonal berry pickers. In the summer of 1962, four-year-old Ruthie is kidnapped by a white New England woman, who renames her Norma and raises the girl as her daughter. Meanwhile, Ruthie’s brother Joe, who was six years old at the time of the kidnapping, never forgives himself for not keeping an eye on his sister. Joe’s perspective alternates with Norma’s, who shares her dim recollections of her real mother (“It’s just a dream,” she’s told by her new parents) with her imaginary friend, “Ruthie.” Joe spends most of his life guilt-ridden by his sister’s disappearance. Norma, meanwhile, is haunted by the puzzling gaps in her family history: there are no pictures of her before the age of five, and her skin is darker than her parents’ (she’s told that she takes after an “Italian great-grandfather”). Joe acts out in rage and resorts to alcohol to cope, while Norma builds a life for herself as a teacher and a wife. Peters traces their experiences over several decades, and their reunion, when it finally comes, is powerfully rendered. The result is a cogent and heartfelt look at the ineffable pull of family ties.
