Our friendly children’s librarians will read a story or two before diving into a different messy activity each week. When the weather is nice, we’ll set up outside the Library in the front lawn near the entrance, but we’ll be prepared to get messy inside as well. From squishing paint to using stamps, toddlers will have a range of sensory fun before washing up and heading home. Are you bored of the same, simple tabletop role playing game (TTRPG) map? Then kids entering grades 3-8 should join Miss Gina and level up your game map with a paper mache dice tower! Participants will paint and decorate a pre-constructed dice tower with a dish to turn it into something eye-catching and spectacular! Parents are welcome to join in the fun, though materials are on a first come, first serve basis. A reminder that children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Hot glue, paint, and glitter will be utilized, so clothes you don't mind getting dirty are HIGHLY recommended. Every Tuesday in August, join us for a workshop with Emily Makrez, owner of F-Word Farm.  F-Word Farm (Farming, Foraging, Fermenting) was started out of a love for the environment.  Last year Emily presented to a full house at a hot sauce workshop, so we're thrilled to welcome her back for a fun summer series.  These are free, beginners level workshops open to all adults and teens interested in the topic.  You can come to as many of the workshops as you'd like, but registration is required for each session. This week (8/19): Uses of Vinegar At this class on food preservation, you will learn what vinegar is and the chemistry behind the process. Emily Makrez will talk about all the different ways she puts vinegar to use for health and flavor in her kitchen and/or cocktails! We will discuss the benefits of fermented food and how adding these foods to our diets are a benefit to our overall health. Samples will be provided! Kids in grades 3-8 are invited to join our Game Master, Miss Gina, as she sets out on a dungeon crawl through an abandoned amusement park filled with dangerous monsters, complex riddles, and traps around every corner. This game will run six sessions between July 11 and August 22, and will feature a new monster and challenge per week. Whether you make it to every session or just this one, you'll be able to play a character and have a blast learning the ins and outs this tabletop roleplaying game! Dice will be provided, but feel free to bring your own set. Pre-made character sheets will be available to use as well. A notebook and pencil are recommended but not required. Join us on Zoom for a fun friendly night of trivia! Play solo, or with a team. Trivia questions will be read aloud and displayed in a slide show presentation in Zoom. No webcams or microphones necessary. Please note: While all ages are welcome, trivia questions are geared toward adults in content and challenge rating. Each player/team is responsible for scoring your own answer sheet, so be sure to have paper and pen ready! This is meant to be fun. All scores are on the honor system. Each team must designate a 'scorekeeper' who is responsible for submitting their team's score to the hosts via the Zoom chat at the end of each round. The host will tally the scores and read the standings aloud. Trivia teams can be in the same household, or in different households. If you choose to play with a team, you are responsible for determining ahead of time how your team will communicate with one another. Players will not be able to use the Zoom chat to communicate with one another. Instead, we recommend setting up alternate channels of communication (group text, Google Hangout, FaceTime, etc.) in order to pool team resources. Library staff will not be responsible for facilitating teams or team communications. If possible, have your team's name already chosen and ready before the program begins.
