The pioneers of rock and roll are the focus of John Whelan’s latest exploration of American popular music. The first class inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame created the genre that became Rock and Roll. Supported by Peter Gaines on the piano, John will examine the lives and music of ten of the inductees from that class. These include Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Buddy Holley, The Everly Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry.This program is a three part series: November 3, 10 and 17This program is part of the Friends of the Eldredge Public Library Learning Series. A $10 donation per course is suggested. All net proceeds are used by the Friends of the EPL to support the Library. Attention all cookbook lovers! We invite you to join our book group: Reading in the Kitchen: A Cookbook Group at the Eldredge Public Library. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month to taste recipes and discuss cookbooks. Each month we will choose a cookbook. You let us know which recipe you will cook to share with the other members, and then we meet to sample the recipes and talk about the chosen cookbook and your cooking experience! A great way to meet fellow foodies and expand your cooking experience.Copies of the cookbook will be available at the Library about 1 month ahead of the meeting date. This series is made possible in partnership through the Tewksbury Public Library.The Library 50 Job Seekers Networking Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and interactive workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search. Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Deborah is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. She transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. Deborah has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs and the Massachusetts Conference for Women. She has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Deborah has facilitated 50 job seekers networking groups since 2016. In it, he explores Indigenous identity in proximity to land that serves as an iconic vacationing spot for the wealthy–the “island paradise” Martha’s Vineyard.Growing up Aquinnah Wampanoag, Joseph Lee grappled with what it means to be an Indigenous person in the world today, especially as tribal land, culture, and community face new threats. Starting with the story of his own tribe, which is from the iconic Martha’s Vineyard, Lee tackles key questions around Indigenous identity and the stubborn legacy of colonialism.Lee weaves his own story—and that of his family—with conversations with Indigenous leaders, artists, and scholars from around the world about everything from culture and language to climate change and the politics of belonging. Join us for a virtual afternoon with poet, essayist, and translator Rachel Hadas. Rachel is the author of many books of poetry, including, most recently, Ghost Guest (2023) and Pandemic Almanac (2022), both from Ragged Sky Press. A selection of her essays and criticism, Piece by Piece, was published by Paul Dry Books in 2021. Her newest collection of poems, Forty-four Pastorals is forthcoming from Measure Press later this year, and a prosimetrum (alternating poetry and prose) entitled From Which We Start Awake, is due out in 2025 from Able Muse Press. Her poem "Voyage" is included in the 2024 edition of The Best American Poetry anthology, edited by Mary Jo Salter.Hadas’s honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship in Poetry, an Ingram Merrill Foundation grant in poetry, and an award in literature from the Academy-Institute of Arts and Letters. She is a recipient of the O.B. Hardison Poetry Prize from the Folger Shakespeare Library and has been a Fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, she has been a resident of the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Rachel Hadas lives in New York City and in Danville, Vermont. With her husband, visual artist and filmmaker Shalom Gorewitz, she has been collaborating on poetry and video.​​

Welcome to Monday Craft Club! Monday Craft Club is a great way for adults to try new arts and crafts while easing stress and having fun - no experience necessary! Craft Club may feature open crafting, staff-led projects, or art-based programming. All crafts focus more on joy than the outcome, allowing all to tap into their creative freedom. Monthly registration is required to secure your spot and space is limited. This month we will make fall garlands usher in the cool crisp air and new season into our homes! Choose between two types of garlands, both featuring old book pages: an acorn garland or a leaf garland - or mix and match! Participants will leave with a garland ready to hang up in their home. Thanks to the Friends of the Eldredge Public Library and to those who donate craft materials for making this programming possible!Please note: This program is for ages 18 and older.
