This series of in person meditation classes runs for 11 weeks. 3/19 thru 5/28. Please register for each individual class session. Some of the styles of concentrative meditation practice that we may explore will include BRFWA (breathe, relax, feel, watch and allow), Autogenics Relaxation, Mantra Meditation (repetition of a specific phrase), Mudra Meditation (a particular shape of hands, fingers, arms), Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation, and Breath awareness. Class will begin with a warm welcome, an introduction into the type of practice that we will be doing, a settling-in practice with breath work, before settling into a comfortable seat on your mat or in a chair (or in a lying down position if a yoga mat is brought). Next will be a guided meditation followed by 10 to 20 minutes of stillness / silence. The class will end with an integration practice that may include poetry reading, silent journaling and sharing experience with the group. Registrants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat, beach towel, blanket, or cushion to sit/lay on and a journal and pen. Connolly, a retired registered nurse with 43 years of experience, is a certified 500-hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Level 1 iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher, and Reiki II Practitioner. Explore local open spaces by joining a guided tour with a member of the OpenSpace Committee! We'll have several different hikes for teens and adults of all abilities throughout the summer and fall. Our first hike in 2025 will be at Tranquility Trail at 680 Broadway; we will meet at the trailhead. Please register so we can notify you if anything changes that day. We will leave the trailhead by 6:05pm so please consider arriving early. We also recommend taking measures to prevent tick bites, such as wearing long pants and light-colored clothing, and maybe using bug spray or other repellant. The trail at Tranquility Trail and Extension (owned by Dracut Land Trust) is about 1⁄2 mile through the woods adjacent to Hay fields of the Ogonowski Memorial Preservation Farmland and runs by two vernal pools and the historic ruins of a sheep pen and well. There are benches and an amazing view from the top across the farmland and toward Boston. The Extension extends to the North and West through open wood and across the Four Oaks Country Club to access Central Dracut Trails via Brentwood Dr. Parking for the trail is on Broadway Rd. 1/8 mile east of Jones Ave.  https://dracutlibrary.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/open-space-hike-tranquility-trail-3/
