Looking for a gentle activity? Try tai chi, a gentle and fun form of movement that will challenge your body and mind. Tai chi improves strength, balance, and coordination. It can reduce stress and improve alertness, focus, and memory. Instructor Karen Barbarisi has been practicing and teaching yoga, tai chi, and qui gong for many years. Karen teaches with a lightheartedness, encouraging students to develop physical awareness and strength while always honoring each student's boundaries and physical limitations.

Join us for an interactive class where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the foundations of Vietnamese cuisine while learning how to prepare fresh spring rolls (Gỏi cuốn). Registration for this class is required. If you would like to sign up for a spot, please email dbeltrao@bpl.org. Chef Somath Om is the co-owner of Coco Leaf, in Dorchester. He's a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute and has worked in Michelin starred restaurants in Spain. In the United States, he's worked for many years as chef de cuisine of O Ya restaurant in New York City. Once he moved to Boston, he decided to open Coco Leaf, a local Vietnamese hangout spot for students and the community.  Programming at the Boston Public Library is funded through private support.
