Whitney’s Farm and Second Chance Composting are teaming up tooffer a free community event for people of all ages to bring their pumpkinsafter Halloween to smash them. The event will be Saturday November 8th from 11am-3pm.  Community members must bring their own pumpkins, as they will notbe provided.  Pumpkins must be unpainted, unbleached, and have any nonorganic materials removed.  Once smashed, pumpkins will be made intocompost by Second Chance Composting. For more fun, Whitney’s Farm will be opening the Haunted Corn Mazeand giant slide for the day.  Donations will be accepted.  Bydonating, patrons will automatically be entered to win a gift card for a free3-month subscription to the Second Chance Composting Residential CommunityComposting Program or a $50 Whitney’s Farm Gift Card.  Two winners will bechosen.  In America, over 1 billion pounds of pumpkins are put in landfillseach year, creating pollution via methane gas, taking up dwindling landfillspace, and destroying the potential for new growth if they were insteadcomposted.
