Have you wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons but never gotten around to do it? Or have you played before and wanted to again, but no one wants to be the Dungeon Master? Luckily,  we have a D&D game just for you!  Dungeons & Dragons is a collaborative role-playing story telling game.  If you already have a character sheet or dice you can bring those if you like, but are not necessary.   This is a small group who meet every Tuesday afternoon from 4-6 for 8 weeks during the summer.   Participants who sign up for the series are expected  to attend every week if possible. Boutwell will discuss his new biography, Boutwell: Radical Republican and Champion of Democracy. George S. Boutwell is the most consequential American political figure you've never heard of. During his career from 1839 to 1905, he was Governor of Massachusetts, served in the U.S. House and Senate, was Treasury Secretary for Ulysses Grant and Commissioner of Internal Revenue for Abraham Lincoln, helped create the Republican Party in the 1850s, and challenged the efforts of Presidents McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt to annex the Philippines in 1900 following the Spanish-American war. He was instrumental in framing the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments, initiating the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, and investigating white vigilante violence against Blacks in Mississippi in the 1870s. For seven decades, George Boutwell sought to "redeem America's promise" through racial equality, economic equity, and the humane use of American power abroad. Join us for an evening of music outdoors! Feel free to bring dinner and the family for a memorable experience. All concerts take place at the Gazebo at the playground end of Town Field behind the library. Arrive early as parking is at a premium!  Please note the earlier time this month! Evan Murphy is a Boston-based guitarist and singer-songwriter whose music blends the narrative depth of Americana with the harmonic openness of jazz and the rhythmic drive of bluegrass. A founding member of the award-winning string band Mile Twelve, Evan has toured internationally, performing at major festivals including RockyGrass, Grey Fox, FreshGrass, and the Savannah Music Festival. He has collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Billy Strings, Chris Eldridge, Brittany Haas, and Bruce Molsky, and was part of Mile Twelve’s IBMA “New Artist of the Year” win in 2020. With Mile Twelve, Evan helped steer progressive bluegrass into new harmonic and narrative territory. Now stepping forward as a frontman, he is expanding beyond his acoustic roots—drawing inspiration from players like Bill Frisell, Julian Lage, and Adam Levy to explore electric textures and understated improvisation in reimagined folk songs, jazz standards, and original compositions. His guitar work favors spacious phrasing, lyrical storytelling, and harmonic nuance over speed or flash. Evan’s 2019 solo EP Born Again Town was praised by Red Line Roots for demonstrating his "ability to excel in entirely separate genres." More recently, Glide Magazine described Mile Twelve's latest album, Close Enough to Hear, as “what very well may be its best yet,” spotlighting Evan’s songwriting and expressive guitar work. In addition to performing, Evan teaches music full time at Boston College High School, where he conducts the chamber orchestra and is developing a forward-thinking guitar curriculum rooted in improvisation and contemporary styles. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music and Music Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College, where his academic work continues to deepen his practice as both an artist and educator. She holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from Harvard University. Born and raised in New Hampshire, she has worked at some of the state's most esteemed cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as Executive Director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University.
