Polar Bear is a licensed therapy dog that loves being read to! Come pick out a book- or bring one from home- and read to her for fifteen minutes. Don't be surprised if she begs for pets, though! This is a same day reservation program. Polar Bear has four slots available each Thursday, and each slot allows for one family to read with her. Slots open in-house at 10AM, and can be requested by calling the library and speaking with a staff member. Please call the library on Thursday morning to request a spot in advance. If there are open spots at 4pm, they will be available for walk-in requests. Join us at the library for an important and eye-opening program on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis, a movement that brings awareness to the alarming rates of violence faced by Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. This program will shed light on the history, stories, and ongoing advocacy efforts surrounding MMIW, while providing resources to help our community learn, reflect, and take action. Through education and conversation, we aim to honor the lives impacted and empower participants to become allies in the call for justice and change.
