This presentation will provide practical information to empower both immigrants and allies.  A caseworker from Berkshire Immigrant Center (BIC) will explain the key legal rights of anyone interacting with immigration enforcement agents, including the role of warrants and how to interpret them.  They also will clarify the legal boundaries around bystander support and what to do if someone is detained.  Attendees will leave with a better understanding of recent changes to immigration enforcement practices and concrete steps that families can take to prepare for emergencies.  Please bring your questions, as there will be time for Q&A after the presentation. Berkshire Immigrant Center’s mission is to advocate for the rights of all immigrants by helping them navigate the complex U.S. immigration system with affordable legal services, local resources, and education. BIC serves over 800 clients annually with three caseworkers. We envision a future where everyone in the Berkshires can enjoy full and equitable access to opportunities, regardless of where they were born. BIC works to create that future by helping immigrants change or maintain their immigration status supporting immigrants in building sustainable futures and helping the Berkshire community grow more welcoming and inclusive for immigrants.

We are thrilled to continue our popular Tech Help program with volunteer Jeff Doughty. Jeff will meet one-on-one with patrons who need technology assistance, including: Smart phone and computer basicsEmail and messagingZoom and FaceTimeSocial media, including Facebook and InstagramConducting Internet searchesDownloading and saving informationUsing library resources, including Libby and KanopyPlease call the Library at 413-637-0197 to reserve a ½ hour appointment. Please bring any necessary devices, passwords, and charging cables. This service is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Jeff Doughty had a long career as a software engineer, most recently with Apple and Nvidia. Jeff is now retired and resides in Lenox with his wife Carol and two Chihuahuas. He has a B.S. from Virginia Tech and a M.S. from Stanford University, both in Computer Science. Jeff has returned to college at BCC to study art and music history.

On Friday, April 3, 2026, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., you are invited to design a whimsical new artwork for your walls using paper, felt, and yarn. First, play around with bold color combinations, shapes, and personalized text. Then, assemble your pieces, hang up your art, and step back to admire your creation! For kids (6+) and adults (Early release day for Lenox Public Schools). Please stop by the youth department or email Vanessa at [email protected] to register ahead of time. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Lenox Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
