Lenox Library is excited to offer a low key and judgement-free group for all families. Babies up to 15 months (actual or developmentally) and older siblings are welcome. Join us for songs and bounces followed by play and chatting, led by Lenox Library Youth Assistant Sara Jarvie, an early childhood development specialist. In addition, on the first Friday of every month, we will have a special baby foot or hand print craft! Completely cost and judgement free, we are happy to help you capture your little one’s foot or handprint with a seasonally themed picture. We know firsthand how fast they grow and how hard it can be to capture those milestones at home. We have the supplies and extra helping hands, you just have to bring the baby. Join the Lenox Library on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. for a special story time with author Mk Smith Despres! Mk will read from their lyrical picture book Night Song and lead an activity. Every morning as the sun rises, Bernardo the frog loves greeting the day by listening to the beautiful birdsong that fills the woods with joy.  Inspired, Bernardo attempts to sing, too…but his croaking voice doesn’t quite have the same effect.  Listen along as Bernardo discovers the vital role he’s meant to play in the woods’ great symphony. Kanopy is a free streaming service available through nine of the libraries in the Berkshires (Lenox, Williamstown, North Adams, Adams, Pittsfield, Stockbridge, Lee, Great Barrington, and Sheffield), with an eclectic, fun, and surprising selection of films and TV shows from classics to new releases. Recent Oscar contenders, like Past Lives and Anatomy of a Fall, sit on the virtual shelf next to genre favorites, like Donnie Darko and Point Break, and film canon staples, like Third Man and My Man Godfrey, butt up against TV shows, like Alone and the British version of The Office. The Kanopy Film Club at Lenox Library wants to highlight what’s available, allowing library patrons to engage with the selections in the way they feel most comfortable. For those who crave communal viewing experiences to get through the dark days of winter, starting February 5, 2025 and continuing on alternate Wednesdays until May 28, we will show a film at 5:00 p.m. in the Welles Gallery followed by a brief discussion. In the off weeks there are suggestions of films to watch from home. However, for those who just want recommendations of what to watch at home, all of the films will be available to stream on Kanopy. Lenox students are invited to explore contradictions and affinities such as black and white, yin and yang, and the irresistible force versus the immovable object. Contrast is one of the fundamental principles in art. Without contrast, everything in a world of art would be the same. Jenn Nacht and Rebecca Daly of the Lenox Chamber of Commerce will co-chair. Karen Romeo-Leger and Alexa Bermudez, teachers from Lenox Memorial Middle and High School, will present the theme to their students. The project will culminate in an art show in the Lenox Library’s Welles Gallery from May 16-26, 2025. Three scholarship awards will be given to Senior students, chosen by a panel of jurors, for works that demonstrate artistic literacy and creative expression.
