Stop by the Take & Make table while you're in the library to grab a Pride themed kit to create embroidered felt moths. With color options inspired by the traditional Pride flag, Transgender flag, Bisexual flag, and Nonbinary flag, there are plenty of options to create a moth inspired by the flag that you identify with! **OFFSITE - This program will take place at The Lexington Venue, 1794 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington Free For All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today’s librarians who serve the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. Please join us for a screening of Free For All: The Public Library, directed by Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor, and learn how public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for all Americans. After the screening, there will be an opportunity to discuss the film. Attendance is on a first-come basis. Film run time is 85 minutes. Participants learn tools for self regulation, social  emotional learning, and self love, all while singing, moving and having fun. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. If your child becomes unable to attend this program, please notify the library as soon as possible. Join local author Weina Dai Randel as she talks about jewelry making, priceless Fabergé eggs, and the dangerous journey of a gifted artisan from an orphan to a master jeweler in her newly released novel, The Master Jeweler. Jane Healey, author of The Women of Arlington Hall, will moderate the discussion.  A Q&A will follow.  Copies of the authors' books will be available for purchase. Registration is required. **OFFSITE LOCATION** This program will be held at the Community Center, 39 Marrett Rd, Lexington. “A Journey Through the Roots of American Popular Music,” is a program of songs and stories about the origins of the blues, rock and country music presented by singer and songwriter Jon Waterman. In the show, Jon is joined by Li Waterman on bass. The program, which also features an accompanying slideshow, explores some of the fascinating characters and events that are part of the history and the role of music in our lives. Attendance is on a first-come basis. Registration is suggested to help plan for headcount. Musician and songwriter Jon Waterman has been performing his original songs along with blues, rock and country standards throughout his life. His music is influenced by intriguing characters and stories from history, the roots of the music he loves, and the diversity of the human experience. His song “Sultana” which tells the story of the Civil War steamboat disaster was selected to be featured at the Sultana museum in Marion, AR. Waterman has presented his programs “A Journey Through the Roots of American Popular Music” and “Cro-Magnon Blues: History and Legends Through Song” in venues around the country, both in person and virtually. He has an M.A. in Popular Music History from Prescott College. Li is a classically trained guitarist and singer who formerly fronted the Rhode Island band Alien Tesh. She is also an artist and graduate of Museum School in Boston.
