Sound healing uses gentle tones and vibrations from instruments like crystal bowls to help the body and mind slow down, release tension, and shift into a state of deep rest, relaxation, and inner calm—creating a peaceful space to unwind, reset, and restore balance. Enjoy an hour of peace and calm while sitting or lying on a yoga mat, absorbing the healing vibrations from instruments such as the quartz crystal bowls lead by a Mystic Willow practicioner. It will be important to bring a yoga mat or towel, something to lay on during the program and a blanket to cover yourself up in. People often get cold while laying for an hour, and the blanket helps to promote comfort throughout your body. Pillows are a personal preference, but you are more than welcome to bring one - whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Chairs will be available if anyone prefers them. The Youth Room offers a volunteer program for students in grades 6–12. The program is open to both Ludlow residents and non-residents and follows the Ludlow Public Schools calendar. Volunteers may participate in the afterschool program, the summer program, or both, fo......More

The Youth Room offers a volunteer program for students in grades 6–12. The program is open to both Ludlow residents and non-residents and follows the Ludlow Public Schools calendar. Volunteers may participate in the afterschool program, the summer program, or both, for part or all of the year. Volunteers usually work one hour per week. Schedules are set after applications are received, with two volunteers per hour. Friends may volunteer together. Once scheduled, volunteers are expected to arrive on time each week and work the full hour. During work time, volunteers may not socialize with friends or supervise siblings. Volunteers must notify Youth Room staff if they will be late, absent, or need to stop volunteering early. Volunteer tasks include shelving books, pulling holds, keeping the Youth Room organized, helping prepare materials, assisting with program setup and cleanup, and other small tasks. Youth Room staff will help match tasks to each volunteer’s abilities, and volunteers should communicate with staff if they need help or a different assignment. School-year volunteers may take breaks (for example, during a sports season) with notice. Summer volunteers are expected to miss no more than 2–3 weeks. New summer volunteers must attend a training session and review a training slideshow. School-year volunteers will review the slideshow and receive individual training. Communication is primarily by email. Volunteers are expected to check email regularly. Parents will be copied on messages, and volunteers should copy their parents when replying.
