French Culture and Conversation is a 6 session series. At least a level 1 in French is required to engage in these sessions. Conversation and instruction will be in French. Sessions include vocabulary and skits to practice conversations and pronunciation.  Register for each session separately. There is limited space so please only register for the sessions you are available for and let us know with at least 24 hours notice if you cannot attend so that we may release your spot to the waitlist. 2/28 Topic: Geography & Regions of France (La France et ses régions) A simple overview of France’s regions, major cities, and landscapes. Students discover how regional identity influences accents, food, and traditions. Register for the last session: 3/7 Topic: Café Culture & Social Life (La culture du café) About our Teacher: Paul teaches French at Waring School. He received his MA in French Lit at the University of Florida and his BA in English Lit at the University of Angers/France. He has taught world languages (including English, French and Romance languages) for several years both in the States and in France and most recently Angers. Whatever your level of experience come join us for a one-shot adventure! MBTS's Head of Adult and Reference Services - Maddy will be your Game Master for this two hour session.  Players don't need to come with characters or dice. But if you're familiar with character creation, feel free to bring your own character! If you don't have a character or are not comfortable creating a character there will be pre-made characters available to choose from. Dice is also not required, as an online dice roller will be available for all players. Meditation happens weekly at 11AM in the meeting room at the First Parish Church Meeting Room, behind Santander Bank through the FPC office door and take a left. There is also a 5PM session on Wednesdays as well. You are welcome to attend both. Alida Bryant is a Dharma Leader and meditation instructor under the guidance of Anam Thubten Rinpoche. She has been meditating for over 30 years (still very much a beginner!) and studying and practicing with lineage holders in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Meditation, fundamentally, is about getting to know ourselves better. The mind is a powerful thing, and often leads us on a merry chase that does not always serve us. So we practice becoming familiar with it, coaxing it into the present moment, where it finds rest and ease… and then we do, too. We will learn that thoughts are not a problem in meditation – they are very much a part of our experience, but usually we don’t notice them. We’ll explore the meaning of the saying “You don’t have to believe everything you think!” (I have the bumper sticker to prove it!) Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome. There will be guided meditation, some silence, and discussion.  Please register if this is your first time coming to this mindfulness meditation program. We need either an email or a phone number in case we need to cancel or change venues last minute.
