Join local authors Amanda Davis and Erin Petti as they celebrate Amanda's newest picture book release and debut as author-illustrator, Sometimes Stormy: A Story About Finding Calm and Staying Safe When Someone You Love Drinks Too Much. The evening will begin with mindful movement and music led by Erin, followed by a reading, book talk, and signing of Sometimes Stormy with Amanda. Amanda will demonstrate how to use picture books to discuss essential topics with kids such as grief, loss, and substance use disorder. She will also share about her personal connection to the story and her passion for writing stories that help children and families feel seen and less alone. The event will conclude with a Q&A and sweet treats for all!  Books will be available for purchase and signing onsite through Storybook Cove  This event is suggested for children ages 5 and older and their families but all are welcome. ABOUT THE BOOK: Sometimes Stormy explores what it’s like to live with a parent struggling with alcohol use disorder. A young boy named Ezra realizes his dad is plagued by a troubling storm—the Sometimes Storm—that sometimes visits their home and changes Dad. He goes searching for the storm’s favorite thing, hoping that he can make it go away. Explore Marshfield on foot! New to town? Longtime resident? Looking for friends to walk with? Here is your opportunity to explore some of Marshfield’s gems. This series of FREE Summer walks is co-sponsored by the Recreation Trails Committee and the Ventress Memorial Library. The walks are designed to allow residents the opportunity to explore trails which are located in Marshfield. With over 25 trails in town, there is probably one located not far from where you live. Our community walks are led by RTC members and a variety of guest presenters. The walks are limited to 12 participants, age 10 and older. Students age 10-17 are welcome with an adult. Participants will learn about the history of the property and will share their knowledge with others. Hikers are encouraged to: Wear sturdy shoes Dress for the weather, which includes hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, walking stick and bug spray Bring their own water bottle, and a peanut-free snack Some trails may not be suitable for all individuals. Hills, rocks, tree limbs, uneven ground and brush are all common trail features. We love dogs, but for the comfort of all please leave them home during these walks. While our walks vary in length, they may go up to two hours per walk. In the event of heavy rain or thunder, walks will be rescheduled for the listed rain date. The North and South River Watershed Association offers descriptions of Marshfield and Marshfield area trails at NSRWA.org. Get outdoors – Forest Trails – to see which trails may be a good match for you. Registration is required. Space is limited and a wait list will be created once a walk fills. Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals, organizations and or businesses who wish to help improve and promote our vast network of community trails.  John Little Conservation Area Meet at the dirt parking lot located at 905 Union Street. A mix of open field, forest and riverine habitant makes for a unique experience for visitors. There is a magnificent view of the North River at the end of a 200-foot board walk. Rain date: Sunday, November 9th 1:00 PM Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals, organizations and or businesses who wish to help improve and promote our vast network of community trails.
