Join us for an uplifting eight-week painting series designed to promote healing, relaxation, and creative expression. Held in the peaceful surroundings of Nevins Library, this program invites individuals affected by cancer, those in remission, and anyone seeking to manage stress and anxiety through the therapeutic power of art. For the first four weeks, participants will explore the vibrant and expressive nature of acrylic painting. In the following four weeks, they will transition to the delicate and fluid beauty of watercolor. No prior experience is necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to explore creativity as a path to wellness.  Note: Please wear warm and comfortable clothing because classes will be outdoors, and you’re welcome to bring an apron or shirt to protect your clothing. Simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) is available upon request with at least two weeks' notice. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Methuen Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. _____________________________ Únase a nosotros para una inspiradora serie de ocho semanas de pintura diseñada para fomentar la sanación, la relajación y la expresión creativa. A little about the book: In a shabby house, on a shabby street, in the new capital of Madrid, Luzia Cotado uses scraps of magic to get through her days of endless toil as a scullion. But when her scheming mistress discovers the lump of a servant cowering in the kitchen is actually hiding a talent for little miracles, she demands Luzia use those gifts to better the family's social position. Reading to a dog gives kids a chance to practice their reading skills with a friendly, nonjudgmental audience — a great setting for anxious readers. Each child gets a fifteen-minute session with Murphy; please register for just one slot. If your plans change after you register and you won’t be able to come to the program, please have the courtesy to cancel your registration so that children on the waiting list can take your place.
