Our Podcast Studio is equipped with two AT-2020 microphones, a Scarlett Focusrite audio interface, and an iMac computer to use for your recording. The Podcasting Studio is regularly available for booking during times Queset House is open to the public, but if you need a little assistance getting familiarized with our equipment, then this session is for you. Now that you’ve started building your Reading Dragons & Friends decks, you probably want to play the card game with other kids, right? We invite you to stop by Queset House for one of our drop-in gaming sessions, run by one of our fantastic VolunTEENs!  These gaming sessions will each last for one hour. All you need to bring is your deck of Reading Dragons & Friends cards and your grown-up (adults must stay with their children while they are playing). Feel free to invite your siblings, cousins, or neighbors to come along! Make sure to pick up any new cards you've purchased on ReadSquared in the Children's Room before the gaming session begins. Will you "claw" your way to the top? Will the "scales" tip in your favor? Remember: these games are intended to be friendly and fun for ALL! We require players to respect the VolunTEEN in charge. VolunTEENs reserve the right to ask players not adhering to our behavior guidelines to leave the gaming session. We invite you to stop by Queset House for one of our drop-in gaming sessions, run by one of our fantastic VolunTEENs!  These gaming sessions will each last for one hour. All you need to bring is your deck of Reading Dragons & Friends cards and your grown-up (adults must stay with their children while they are playing). Feel free to invite your siblings, cousins, or neighbors to come along! Make sure to pick up any new cards you've purchased on ReadSquared in the Children's Room before the gaming session begins. As students and families prepare for a new school year, we’ll discuss the challenges of “starting over” with a new teacher and a new classroom, particularly for those students on IEPs or 504 plans. Local author Amy Mackin will discuss her new book, Henry's Classroom: A Special Education in American Motherhood, and the challenges of navigating the special education system with a child who has disabilities. Ms. Mackin’s book was released in spring 2025 to wide acclaim; her area bookstore releases led to engaging discussions, and she has been selected to present at conferences across Massachusetts throughout the summer. This talk is perfect for parents and teachers alike as both prepare for the upcoming school year. Amy Mackin’s academic and creative experience ranges from writing and editing for Boston-based private companies and nonprofits to working with worldwide media agencies and has primarily focused on the social sciences, public health, and education sectors. She currently manages communications and outreach for the Population Studies and Training Center at Brown University. In this tutorial session, Queset House Manager Myles will walk you through getting set up to record with our equipment and the free-to-use recording software, Audacity, as well as provide some tips and tricks for best recording practices. Our Podcast Studio is equipped with two AT-2020 microphones, a Scarlett Focusrite audio interface, and an iMac computer to use for your recording. The Podcasting Studio is regularly available for booking during times Queset House is open to the public, but if you need a little assistance getting familiarized with our equipment, then this session is for you.
