Books you loved and would like to share. What NOT to donate? Books in poor condition, smelly, moldy, or heavily marked. Textbooks, encyclopedias, condensed books, VHS tapes, CD’s and DVD’s, magazines, travel books more than 5 years old, computer books more than 2 years old. Want to volunteer for a future book sale? Are you a movie enthusiast looking to share your love for films with like-minded individuals? Look no further than the new Flint Memorial Library Cinema Circle! This is your chance to dive into the world of cinema, engage in lively discussions, and explore the art of filmmaking—all within a welcoming community. The Cinema Circle is the perfect space for both casual viewers and serious cinephiles. Whether you’re an in-depth analyst or just love a good story, our club offers something for everyone. We meet every Monday in the Conference Room at 6:30pm. After the film, we'll have a little chat about what we just watched—but if you don't feel like chatting, no pressure! You can just peace out if you'd like. The theme for November is The Self in Revolt, and today's film is Fight Club (1999). A ticking-time-bomb insomniac and a slippery soap salesman channel primal male aggression into a shocking new form of therapy. Their concept catches on, with underground “fight clubs” forming in every town, until an eccentric gets in the way and ignites an out-of-control spiral toward oblivion. Since today's film is rated R (for disturbing and graphic depiction of violent anti-social behavior, sexuality and language), patrons under 17 must be accompanied by an adult or provide a signed permission note from a parent or guardian.
