The Cape Cod Jazz Quartet (CCJQ) is comprised of four of Cape Cod’s top jazz musicians, with Steve Ahern on trumpet, flute & vocals from Cape Cod & Florida, Fred Boyle on piano from South Yarmouth, Ron Ormsby on bass from Centerville, and Bart Weisman on drums from Orleans. Since 2009, the CCJQ has appeared at concerts, events and restaurants across Cape Cod including the Provincetown Jazz Festival. The CCJQ has accompanied renowned vocalists including Siobhan Magnus, Cassandre McKinley, and Tish Adams, and has two recordings including one with Dane Vannatter.  All concerts are coordinated by the Truro Concert Committee with the support of the town of Truro and local sponsors. www.trurosummerconcerts.org

Whether she is belting out a blues, caressing the melody of a delicate love song, encouraging social consciousness and change or singing about her pajamas, it is an experience that inspires courage, strength and hope. She does all of this while creating atmosphere of playfulness and spontaneity that is disarming and uniquely Sarah. Truro Library Book GroupJuly selection is There There by Tommy Orange Among them is Jacquie Red Feather, newly sober and trying to make it back to the family she left behind. Dene Oxendene, pulling his life together after his uncle’s death and working at the powwow to honor his memory. Fourteen-year-old Orvil, coming to perform traditional dance for the very first time. They converge and collide on one fateful day at the Big Oakland Powwow and together this chorus of voices tells of the plight of the urban Native American—grappling with a complex and painful history, with an inheritance of beauty and spirituality, with communion and sacrifice and heroism.
