Join us this Winter for PVC Play and Learn, a CFCE caregiver-and-child playgroup held at the Poirier Village Center for children ages 2-5. This free program offers a wonderful introduction to a school-like setting through play, socialization, and teacher-led activities. Children will have the chance to make friends, explore hands-on learning experiences, and participate in a fun and welcoming circle time. This program will take place every Thursday from January 8th through April 30th, 2026.Space is limited so apply today to reserve your spot! Due to high demand, we kindly ask that you commit to attending all scheduled weeks of the session. The CFCE Program Coordinator will review all applications and notify families by Friday, December 19, 2025, if their child has been accepted into this playgroup. CFCE Programming is funded and supported by a partnership between the Department of Early Education (EEC), the Morrill Memorial Library, and the Norwood Housing Authority. Morrill Memorial Library is excited to partner with Norwood-based Lifeworks Inc to bring a series of art classes called Sensory-friendly Art Classes for Adults to the library. The classes will be held weekly on Fridays from 10:30 am to 11:45 am in the Simoni Room. Join the art instructor Stephanie Enloe for Sensory-friendly Art Classes for Adults, a program specially designed for adults with different levels of cognitive abilities. Each week, Ms. Stephanie will guide our participants to create one-of-a-kind art projects, often utilizing recycled/repurposed materials and items found in nature.  Ms. Stephanie says, "I am very excited to be partnering with Lifeworks and the Morrill Memorial Library for this special program and look forward to the friendships, laughs and smiles that will happen along the way." Morrill Memorial Library is excited to bring Dr. Shreedhar Paudel to the library for a presentation titled No Health Without Mental Health on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 10:30am in the Simoni Room.  Mental health is an essential component of overall well-being, yet millions of people in the United States continue to struggle with untreated or undertreated mental illnesses. This presentation will cover the current state of mental health and mental healthcare gap in the United States; discuss major types of mental illnesses; discuss the importance of addressing mental illnesses in time and describe different treatment modalities.  The 30-minute presentation will be followed by 30 minutes of discussion and Q&A. About the presenter: Dr. Shreedhar Paudel is a medical graduate from the Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu, Nepal. He is a public health professional trained in Global Health, a psychiatrist with specialization in community psychiatry and schizophrenia at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Dr. Paudel is the current President and one of the founders of Health Foundation Nepal, USA. His passion is in global mental health and has been a pioneer global health leader through Health Foundation Nepal and other organizations.  This program is free and open to all aged 16+. This month’s kit features Red House, Brown Mouse by Jane Godwin, a playful rhyming story that introduces colors, animals, and early language skills. Each kit includes a copy of the book along with simple, hands-on activities designed to support learning through play. Please note, the book must be checked out with a library card and returned to the library, but you can keep all the other materials in the kit to continue the learning and fun anytime. Perfect for young readers and their families! We ask that you limit registrations to 1 kit/family. Kits will be available for pickup from Sunday February 8th through Saturday February 14th, 2026. Join us this Winter for PVC Play and Learn, a CFCE caregiver-and-child playgroup held at the Poirier Village Center for children ages 2-5. This free program offers a wonderful introduction to a school-like setting through play, socialization, and teacher-led activities. Children will have the chance to make friends, explore hands-on learning experiences, and participate in a fun and welcoming circle time. This program will take place every Thursday from January 8th through April 30th, 2026.Space is limited so apply today to reserve your spot! Due to high demand, we kindly ask that you commit to attending all scheduled weeks of the session. The CFCE Program Coordinator will review all applications and notify families by Friday, December 19, 2025, if their child has been accepted into this playgroup. CFCE Programming is funded and supported by a partnership between the Department of Early Education (EEC), the Morrill Memorial Library, and the Norwood Housing Authority. This program takes place at the Poirier Village Center (82 Roosevelt Ave, Norwood). Morrill Memorial Library is excited to partner with Norwood-based Lifeworks Inc to bring a series of art classes called Sensory-friendly Art Classes for Adults to the library. The classes will be held weekly on Fridays from 10:30 am to 11:45 am in the Simoni Room. Join the art instructor Stephanie Enloe for Sensory-friendly Art Classes for Adults, a program specially designed for adults with different levels of cognitive abilities. Each week, Ms. Stephanie will guide our participants to create one-of-a-kind art projects, often utilizing recycled/repurposed materials and items found in nature.  Ms. Stephanie says, "I am very excited to be partnering with Lifeworks and the Morrill Memorial Library for this special program and look forward to the friendships, laughs and smiles that will happen along the way." About the instructor: Stephanie Enloe is the owner and founder of Craftyish Shop in Fall River, MA, a shop and community gathering place for all things handmade.  Stephanie has worked as an independent artist and art teacher for approximately twenty years and specializes in working with individuals with special needs. Love doing puzzles? Want to test your speed against others? Come join us for a friendly puzzle face-off against other teams on Saturday February 14, 2026 from 2:30pm - 4pm in the Simoni Room. How does the race work? Up to 8 teams will compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Feel free to name your team! Families are welcome to come as a team; children aged 10+ will count as a team member. One puzzle per team. Puzzles will be 500 pieces and design will be same for everyone. Race will kick off at 2:30pm and will end at 4pm. Please plan on arriving by 2:20 pm at the latest, so we can start on time. The team with the most completed puzzle by the end of the race will be the winner, but everyone gets the bragging rights! This program is free and open to all, but please note that the difficulty level of the puzzle design is most suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Please let only one team member register for the whole team. You will be prompted to enter the number of participants in your team. Please do not register each member of your team separately.
