Hear ye, hear ye! All adults, from experienced players , to newbies, to everyone in between, you are invited to sign up for a two-part, level 5 mini Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Players may elect to bring a character sheet (level 5 character, 5E 2014 or 2024 creation rules, with starting equipment only), or they may use one of our pre-made character sheets (paper only). We supply dice and minis as well, but you are welcome to bring your own! The Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse: Rumors of a rampaging sea monster have ground shipping traffic to a halt in the harbor. The characters discover that the Jade Lion has gone missing near Skyhorn Lighthouse and learn they must brave the open seas and cutthroat enemies in order to save the crew from a murky fate! Registration is required. This campaign is broken up into two 2.5 hour sessions, both from 6:00-8:30 PM. In this engaging program, we’ll explore how handwriting found in letters, journals, signatures, wills, postcards, and historical documents can offer meaningful clues about the people who came before us. Together, we’ll look at how writing styles have changed over time and how factors like culture, social environment, health, and life circumstances can shape the way someone writes. Participants will be guided through real examples of historical and family documents and shown how to observe handwriting with a more curious and informed eye. The session is designed to spark conversation, sharing, and discovery — giving patrons and Genealogy Club members new ways to connect with the stories, personalities, and lived experiences behind the documents they treasure. Garcia is an intuitive handwriting analyst and the founder of Write Your Ways LLC, a Nebraska-based practice devoted to self-discovery, historical exploration, and human connection through handwriting. Queer Ensemble Project presents a concert program that traces the meaningful journey of self-discovery, the process of coming into one’s own over time. Rhiannon is a 200hr registered and certified yoga teacher, mental health/wellness advocate and founder of Humble Roots Yoga. Sally Snowman, the last USCG Keeper of Boston Light and Husband Jay Thomson (Online) You know we love our Lighthouse talks and we're really excited about this one! Boston Light – the first established Light Station in colonial America – began lighting the way for safe navigation into the fledging maritime port of Boston in 1716. The Fresnel Lens in the lantern room and fog signal apparatus situated on Little Brewster Island at the entrance to Boston Harbor continues as an active Coast Guard maintained aid-to-navigation, today. However, its notoriety in the maritime community as the “the last manned Coast Guard Light Station” in the country has come to closure with the retirement of Sally Snowman, its 70th keeper. A power-point presentation provide photos of Boston Light’s 307 years of history and few photo anecdotes of Sally’s experiences as a 21st Century Keeper. We are also thrilled to welcome Jeremy D'Entremont to the conversation! He is one of our favorite speakers on lighthouses and is great friends with Sally and Jay. Children will focus on the importance of deep breathing and end each session with a little Savasana! The instructor, Ann Marie Moore, has been working with children for over 30 years. She has been a preschool teacher, a para educator, a daycare provider, Weymouth CFCE Facilitator, and a children's yoga instructor. This program requires registration and requires an adult caregiver to be present. This program is funded by the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) grant awarded to the Quincy Braintree Family Network by the Department of Early Education and Care. Welcome to our yearlong series in which “America’s Preeminent Presidential Doodler”, Heather Rogers, shares facts, factoids, and fun illustrations about the presidents of these United States. Give someone else's clothes and books a second chance and find something new to love! Join us for a cozy and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe. This community swap is for all ages, from birth through adult. All clean, good condition clothes and books are welcome; however, baby clothes, winter items for all ages, and children's books are especially welcome. Please, no toys! From Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13, we invite you to bring freshly laundered clothes and gently used books to either the first floor helpdesk or the children's room. Anyone who brings items the week before the event (Monday-Thursday) will be entered to win a gift card! On the day of the event, donations will be accepted at the door only. All participants are welcome to come and browse for fantastic finds and contribute to a more sustainable community. Doors will open at 2 PM. We look forward to seeing you there! Please note: To ensure a smooth event, we kindly ask that you limit your donations to 1 large bag per person.
