The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to host a performance with the dynamic Crocodile River Music. The musicians have been featured many times in our community where they bring traditional and contemporary music from across the continent of Africa. The group's mission is to connect audiences with African artists and cultures through performance and education. Zach Combs, Issa Coulibaly are part of the percussion section and Thierno Camara is on base guitar and are joined by other instrumentalists, vocalists and a dancer. Thanks to the Southbridge Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council for sponsoring this performance which is presented as part of our celebration of Juneteenth.

The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to host another dramatic reading with playwright Mary Darling and Museful Intent. The event will include a short reading and followed by a panel discussion on inclusion in theater. This will be a space for folks to share some of their experiences and tips on how to continue to be inclusive when collaborating in the theatrical setting and more.  Mary Darling is a playwright/ director/ photographer. In 2023 she participated in Too Much Damn Theater’s annual pass-along play competition and her team’s play You, Me and My Multiple Consciousnesses won 7 awards, including “Best Play” and her short play Adverb Ever After was featured in the Masque & Spectacle Literary Journal's September 2023 Issue. 2024 productions include Strawberry Shortcake (Boston Theater Marathon XXVI), A Very Public, Very Family Friendly Park Bench (Fresh Fruit Festival), and Period. (Balefire Productions).

Magic By George Summer Reading Kick off June 30, 2025 at 6:30pm What does it take to become magic’s only Two-Time Gold Medal Champion? Only one magician has ever successfully discovered the answer: George Saterial. George has become the first and only magician in the world to receive magic’s highest and most coveted honors, the “Gold Medal of Excellence,” from the industry’s foremost associations — The International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians. It’s rare that either award is given–in nearly twenty years they have been granted a combined total of only seven times. George was awarded both honors in the same year. In addition, he was honored as a FISM award winner at the 21st World Championship of Magic in Lisbon. From the stages of Broadway in New York City to New Zealand’s renowned Regent Theater, George has traveled six continents performing in nearly every possible venue including theater, television, film, music videos, cruise ships, corporate special events, and has even performed in a six-thousand-seat arena…on ice. This performance is being supported by a grant from the Southbridge Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
