Their music covers a wide range of genres, from ragtime, Americana, show tunes, swing, jazz, to contemporary composers.  During their performance they’ll present a little background on each composer and composition and look to include lots of conversation with the audience! PaxSax is a quartet of professional musicians: George Owens (Whately), baritone & bass sax, Jon Weeks (Leyden) soprano & alto, Dominic Poccia (Northampton) alto, and Dave Trenholm (Northampton) tenor.  All have decades of experience teaching and performing in Latin, swing, jazz, and rock bands throughout the region.This performance is brought to you by the Springfield Cultural Council.

Join Boston-based Blues Singer/Guitarist Barrett Anderson for a vibrant evening of story and song, telling the story of early Blues music, a distinctly American form that has shaped all music and culture that followed. Told through narrative, live performance on guitar and vocals, and an accompanying digital slideshow, Barrett focuses on the story of early blues heroes Bessie Smith, Charlie Patton, Son House, Skip James, Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters, and crafts a narrative that celebrates the lives and art of these music pioneers, while telling a story of freedom and empowerment through artistic expression that rocked the world. Blues Stories: Culture & History told through Song & Narrative is an engaging, informative, foot-tapping good time, and there will be time following the presentation for a Q&A with Barrett.This performance is made possible by a grant from the Springfield Library Foundation’s Rose M. Smith Music Fund.About Barrett AndersonBlues Stories: Culture & History told through Song & Narrative is a program created by Massachusetts based Blues Singer/Guitarist, Barrett Anderson. Throughout his career, Barrett has played with the best and brightest Blues artists in the scene, and is currently part of the global community of musicians carrying this music forward. During his 25 year career as a Professional Musician, Barrett has recorded 3 full length albums (the most recent, HypnoBoogie spent 3 weeks on the Billboard Blues Album Charts, peaking at #6), won a Boston Music Award (2013 Blues Artist of the Year), spent a combined 6 years as a guitarist with internationally acclaimed bands Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters and The Monster Mike Welch Band, and has played thousands of shows across America, Canada, and Europe.
