The time is January 1774. Abigail Adams invites a group of women to Boston for a "Spinning Bee". These were meetings where the Daughters of Liberty gathered to discuss matters of concern to colonists while they spun yarn that could be woven into fabric. The audience is part of the meeting where Abigail introduces several of the women present such as historian and author Mercy Otis Warren, poet Phillis Wheatley and Sarah Fulton the "mother" of the Boston Tea Party. The interactive program includes both first person portrayal and multimedia presentation. Following an âup close visitâ with Abigail Adams. participants will learn more about her time in Boston in the years leading up to the Declaration of Independence. Included will be stories about women who joined Abigail as important players working along side her in forging a path to Independence from Britain. Those who attend will leave with a fresh perspective on the role of woman during the time leading up to the Declaration of Independence.  Light refreshments will be served. Join our Dungeons & Dragons sessions for adults every Wednesday evening. How it works: Each month at the library, we explore one of several rotating Dungeons & Dragons worldsâeach with its own distinct tone, setting, and genre. The first week of the month is a casual drop-in event focused on learning the game and creating characters that fit the current world. After that, we run three weeks of one-shot adventures, all set in the same setting for that month. While we encourage people to sign up for the full month, each adventure is self-containedâso itâs okay if you miss a session or canât make it every week. There is no long-term campaign and no pressure to commit beyond the month. New to D&D? If youâre new to D&D, we recommend joining during the first week of a new month so thereâs time to help you build a character and learn the basics. Due to the short time slots, we wonât have time to create new characters during the adventure weeks. Each monthâs world brings a different genreâurban fantasy, steampunk, frontier survival, and moreâso be sure to check the calendar. If one month isnât your style, youâre always welcome to wait and join when the next setting rotates in. Itâs a great way to explore new stories, build characters, and meet other local players in a low-pressure setting. Spanish Basic is a beginning-level in which students will begin to develop confidence talking, reading and writing in Spanish. Students could immerse themselves into a Spanish class in which all the time is spent hearing and speaking Spanish, playing bingo, singing, dancing Hispanic music, learning facts about a specific Hispanic country, the flag, traditions, culture, food, music, weather, location, and more. Our classes are hands-on. Come and have a great time with me. This program is intended for adults. Led by Miss Esther Gomez. Registration is required. Please note: When someone does not show up for a program they are registered for, they are taking away an opportunity for another member of the community. Patrons who are registered for an event they cannot attend are asked to cancel their registration at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to show up for programs two (2) times without notice will be grounds for being waitlisted for 30 days. This program is 45 minutes long. The room or space is colorful and decorated. We start the Program by dancing a Mexican song with the rhythm of the Mariachi music. The audience loves to see my beautiful Mexican dress. By learning and singing our Hola song, the class starts. Kids love to have fun with the parachute, they learn vocabulary by playing with it. I use puppets and engaging games to teach them the days of the week, the months of the year, and many more vocabulary. They play, dance, jump, and run following directions in Spanish to mention a few. This class is very active, with different activities to engage the kids. My puppet Lola is always hungry and she invites the audience to go to âEl Mercadoâ and buy some food for her. Lola gives them a mexican bag and the audience pretend to buy food. Then, she asks the kids to give her food. This activity is great to teach them vocabulary. At the end of the program, we play with the Parachute and balls. The program is designed to be dynamic, energetic, interactive, and enjoyable. EVERY PROGRAM IS DIFFERENT, WITH NEW GAMES AND ACTIVITIES. This program was made possible thanks to the generosity of the Woburn Cultural Council. Este programa tiene una duraciĂłn de 45 minutos. La habitaciĂłn o espacio es colorido y decorado. The Battle of  Chelsea Creek (May 27 and 28, 1775) Colonial raiders have crossed from Chelsea to raid Noddle's Island under Crown control in Boston Harbor. The Royal Navy responds by landing Marines and sending a ship into the creek to cut the colonial raiders off. The first offensive action of the American Revolution.  Join us for a 28mm game of hand painted soldiers over a terrain to represent the battlefield. Come watch the moving diorama as the battle unfolds. Please note: if you would like to join to play the game, please register! Everyone is welcome to come and watch the gameplay, but we ask that people hoping to actively play register. This is an exciting opportunity to have your personal photographs professionally digitized by the Archivist! If youâre interested in family history, chances are strong that you have albums and shoeboxes full of old family photographs. Knowing how to care for these precious heirlooms is important. Preserving the visual legacy of your forbearers is a responsibility to enjoy, both today and for generations to come. Attendees will have the opportunity to have a limited number of photographs scanned and digitized by the Archivist using our high quality archival equipment. Attendees must provide their own flash or external hard drive. The Archivist will be able to offer advice and guidance regarding storage, handling, and digitizing on your own. Springtime and Earth Day are here! Let's support our local pollinators by building mason bee houses. Mason bees are solitary, non-stinging bees that build their nests in long thin crevices. They are some of the best pollinators out there, much more efficient than honeybees. We can encourage mason bees to come pollinate our gardens this year and support their populations in general by providing them houses made of paper straws and hollow reeds that are just the right size for them. In this workshop everyone can make a mason bee house to take home and put in their yard, garden, or local park. We'll use upcycled materials like cardboard, paper, string, and tape so everyone of all ages and craftiness levels can join in. Join our Dungeons & Dragons sessions for adults every Wednesday evening. How it works: Each month at the library, we explore one of several rotating Dungeons & Dragons worldsâeach with its own distinct tone, setting, and genre. The first week of the month is a casual drop-in event focused on learning the game and creating characters that fit the current world. After that, we run three weeks of one-shot adventures, all set in the same setting for that month. While we encourage people to sign up for the full month, each adventure is self-containedâso itâs okay if you miss a session or canât make it every week. There is no long-term campaign and no pressure to commit beyond the month. New to D&D? If youâre new to D&D, we recommend joining during the first week of a new month so thereâs time to help you build a character and learn the basics. Due to the short time slots, we wonât have time to create new characters during the adventure weeks. Each monthâs world brings a different genreâurban fantasy, steampunk, frontier survival, and moreâso be sure to check the calendar. If one month isnât your style, youâre always welcome to wait and join when the next setting rotates in. Itâs a great way to explore new stories, build characters, and meet other local players in a low-pressure setting. Dice and character sheets provided if needed, though you are welcome to bring your own. This month's adventure: Terra Noctis Pop culture vibes: X-Files, Stranger Things, Dresden Files Terra Noctis, a modern fantasy D&D setting where magic and fantasy creatures have always been part of the world. Elves run coffee shops, orcs serve in the Coast Guard, and your neighbor might be a retired necromancer who runs a pawn shop. The world feels familiar, smartphones, streaming services, city buses, but itâs also shaped by rituals, wards, and ancient tombs hidden beneath gas stations. Magic is regulated like a public utility, and supernatural problems sometimes slip through the cracks. These games focus on urban fantasy, supernatural mystery, and a touch of folk horror. Itâs a place where things donât always go right, but professional adventurer guilds are a phone call away.  This month will start with level 1 characters. Sometimes considered âstreet foodâ or âhome styleâ cooking, popular Japanese foods are known the world over! Wa-Shokuiku teachers will teach us how to create healthy versions of these popular dishes and discuss where you might find them in your local neighborhood as well as in Japan. If you have any food allergies, let the Teen Staff know** Wa-Shokuiku combines the Japanese words âWashoku(ĺéŁ)â which refers to Japanese food and, âShokuiku(éŁč˛)â, food education. Washoku, literally harmony in food, is recognized as one of the worldâs healthiest diets. Shokuiku, a government-mandated school curriculum in Japan, promotes knowledge about food as well as the ability to make appropriate food choices. Food knowledge can include basic understanding of nutrients, manners, understanding and appreciating the labor and production necessary to create a meal and food environment.
