LACA Invites Artists to Submit Workfor 3rd Annual Small is Beautiful Miniature Art Exhibition LUDINGTON, MI â The Ludington Area Center for theArts (LACA) is excited to announce a call for artists for its 3rd annual Smallis Beautiful Miniature Art Exhibition, on display in the art centerâsUnframed Gallery from Nov. 7, 2025 through Jan. 31, 2026. This unique exhibit celebrates the magic of small-scalecreativity, proving that great art doesnât have to be big to make a big impact. Open to all 2D and 3D artists, Small is Beautifulinvites submissions of original artwork created on a miniature scale. Size requirements: ⢠2D artwork may not exceed 4â x 6â (24 sq. in.); framed/matted pieces are optional but must be under 5â x 7â (35 sq. in.) ⢠3D artwork may not exceed 5â in any dimension Display details: 2D works will be exhibited with magnets affixed to the back by LACA, creating a fun, refrigerator-art inspired presentation. Artists may submit up to 15 pieces for consideration.Entry fees are $5 for 1â5 pieces. Artwork will be accepted at LACAbetween Tuesday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025. Get ready to make beautiful music this fall! The Ludington Youth Chorus is excited to announce the start of its inaugural semester-long choral program, led by the passionate and experienced Elliot Plummer. Students from Ludington and all surrounding areas, including Scottville, Manistee, Hart, and Pentwater, are warmly welcome to join! A proud product of Ludington, Elliott brings a wealth of musical knowledge and a deep love for working with young people. Having grown up right here, attending O.J. DeJonge Middle School and Ludington High School, Elliott went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Music Education (Vocal/Instrumental K-12) from Grand Valley State University. His musical journey began in middle school and blossomed through high school and college, where he actively participated in a wide array of musical ensembles, from bands and orchestras to choirs and musical theater. "Music is one of the greatest gifts that humanity has been given," says Elliot, "and I can see no better way to spend my life than by sharing the gift of music with young developing musicians. I love working with young people, and I love helping them accomplish what they thought impossible for themselves. This is especially true when it comes to music!" This exciting program offers a fantastic opportunity for young singers ages 10-14 from Ludington and neighboring communities to: Develop their vocal skills in a fun and supportive environment. Learn fundamental music concepts and build a strong foundation. Explore a diverse range of musical styles. Make new friends who share a love for singing. Experience the joy of creating music together and perform in a public concert at the end of the semester. Ludington Area Schools are generosity offering after-school transportation for students from Ludington Elementary and O.J. DeJonge Middle School directly to LACA for chorus rehearsals. This allows chorus students to have a snack before rehearsal begins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons. Learn International Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan with Leslie (Les) Kannon at LACA! Tuesdays starting November 4 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. (Nov. 11, Nov. 18, Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 9, and Dec. 16). This class is designed for students 12 years old (under 18 years old must have an adult present) to adults. Registration for the six-week season is $50 for LACA members and $60 for non-members. Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan is practiced as a "form," a well-defined sequence of movements that flows from one posture to the next according to underlying principles. This class presents the movements and relaxed flow of the Tai Chi form from one form to the next. Each class begins with a review of the previous form/forms, then goes on to new forms. The entire sequence of movements are taught, where the hands go, where the feet go, and the principles (softness, straightness, relaxation) that makes doing the movements worthwhile. Each class includes demonstrations, lots of practice repetitions, hands-on adjustments (instructor may physically correct positions), and verbal guidance. Les suggests wearing loose fitting clothing, comfortable shoes, bringing a water bottle, and to practice at home between classes.

Deb Borema is leading a unique, student-led sewing program at the new LACA Sewing-Studio. To ensure everyone gets a chance to participate, please limit registration to one program per child each month. Sewing-Studio will follow the Ludington School District calendar and will not hold a program on scheduled half-days, no-school days, or unscheduled snow days. If Deb is ill and cannot teach, Youth Sewing will still hold a program, but a different project may be taught. Participation is $7.50 per day and requires a monthly commitment. Led by Missy Niemiec-Rosales, a dedicated educator and experienced Stampin' Up! demonstrator, this hands-on session is designed for participants of all skill levels. Throughout the workshop, you will learn essential techniques such as paper cutting, scoring, shaping, and embellishing. The curriculum covers a range of projects, from crafting stunning handmade cards suitable for any occasion to creating intricate 3D paper projects like gift bags, tags, and home decor items. By the end of the session, attendees will not only have a collection of beautiful paper creations but also the foundational knowledge and confidence to continue their paper-crafting journey independently. All necessary tools and materials will be provided.
