The Oliver Art Center's annual Small Works, Community Collage project opens to the public on June 1st and continues through August 31st. This engaging project underscores the Oliver Art Center's commitment to fostering awareness and accessibility of the visual arts by inviting artists of all ages and abilities to contribute their creativity. Local artists and art enthusiasts were invited to visit the Oliver Art Center to collect blank canvases and embark on creating their miniature masterpieces. The individual works will then be carefully assembled during the last week of May, with the completed community collage unveiled to the public on June 1st. The uniquely decorated canvases will be available for purchase at $40.00 each, with 100% of the proceeds directly supporting the Oliver Art Center's vital programming initiatives.

The Oliver Art Center takes a fresh look at the landscape genre, exploring it through the lens of several artists with a unique twist on the subject. Horizons: Alternative Landscapes will open with a reception on Saturday, August 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The exhibit continues through September 5th. An artist talk will take place on Friday, September 5 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Artists featured in the exhibit are Carl Serber of Clarkston, Julie Tibus of Howell, Ron Gianola of Honor, Cody Winter of Toledo, OH, Adam VanHouten of Traverse City, Anne Kindl of Saline and Sam Soet of Traverse City. The show will feature romantic realism and abstractions of the theme in a variety of media.

Join us for a walk along the universally accessible boardwalk at the Arcadia Marsh Nature Preserve! Volunteer leader Paula Dreeszen will highlight the many marsh wildflowers during peak blooming and butterfly viewing times. The Basics The Arcadia Marsh is one of the most beautiful and diverse nature preserves under GTRLC’s umbrella. The universally accessible boardwalk allows users of all abilities to enjoy this iconic property and experience the unique flora and fauna that call this place home. This will be a relatively easy walk on flat, even terrain. What should I bring? Consider bringing your camera or binoculars, a reusable water bottle, and snacks Dress for the weather!
