Hudsonville Economic Development Director, Jakob Bigard, will present current and future city projects.   About our Speaker Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Jakob Bigard graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in public administration. He previously served as a program manager at GVSU’s Hauenstein Center and worked the last two years for The Right Place, driving job creation and capital investment in advanced manufacturing. As the City's Economic Development Director, Jakob brings a wealth of experience to the team. He oversees the preparation of plans, policies, and programs to guide the city’s growth and conservation, with an emphasis on establishing a traditional downtown that blends historical charm with modern progress. Collaborating with other department directors, Jakob manages economic development, leads physical planning and land development efforts, oversees city building and land use regulations, and spearheads housing conservation, rehabilitation, and community development initiatives.   Reserve a MEAL Booth! Attendees are encouraged to bring relevant materials, whether digital or printed, to work through their ideas in real time. Together, you'll identify opportunities to strengthen your strategy, expand your reach, increase your impact, and elevate your mission. Every strong initiative has a before, a during, and an after. Most of us are only planning one of the three. This workshop is an invitation to change that. You'll bring one initiative from your own work — a gala, a year-end ask, a program campaign, a grant season — and we'll build out the full annual arc together, from first touchpoint to final thank you. Booth Information - Registration Opens Late Summer You will be provided a 10x10 booth space on pavement. An exact map of your location will be provided closer to the event.  Table, chairs, and tent are not provided. A tent is not required but is recommended as there is limited shade downtown and in case of slight rain. Please bring sandbags or weights (not stakes) for your tent. You must provide a free kids activity at your booth. You also must communicate this activity with the event coordinator prior to the event to ensure there are no duplicates. Please bring enough prizes and games for 1,000+ attendees. We recommend a minimum of 2 helpers at your booth. You will likely have a line for your activity. There is no access to water or electricity at your booth. You are not permitted to sell items at your booth. Booth must be paid in full before the event. No political parties or groups are permitted to participate. Cancellation and Refund Policy: The planning team and event coordinator reserve the right to allow or deny your booth application. Your booth must be paid in full before the event.  To be eligible for a refund, your cancellation request must be submitted to the event coordinator 10 business days prior to the event.  Should the event be canceled due to weather, no refunds will be issued, and there will be no rescheduling of the event. If you are a sponsor, your opportunity will not be refunded to your sponsorship package. Any announcements that the event is canceled will be made the day before via email. By registering for this event, you agree to the rules and refund policy listed on this page.
