This all-ages art festival will be taking place each day during library hours on June 25, 26 & 27. Stop into the library for some chalk to create your masterpiece on the sidewalk outside. Photos will be taken of each creation (in case of rain), and posted inside the library. Participants may enter into a prize drawing. This program is for all ages. Prize drawing winners must be able to collect their prize in person at the Onekama branch library between June 30 and July 31st, 2025.

Registration opens on May 15th!What's a sound bath? A sound bath weaves together the resonant tones of Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls and gong sounds to create a powerful, immersive experience. Sarah Domin, owner of Four Directions Alchemy in Ludington, will lead this musical meditation. She incorporates a collection of unique handheld instruments to create a unique and relaxing soundscape. Reservations are required.Please see the following instructions from presenter Sarah Domlin: "This is a group event. For your comfort, please bring any combination of the following: a yoga mat, blankets, pillows, bolster, warm socks, and an eye mask to create a cozy "nest" to fully relax and enjoy the experience.There is no such thing as too much, practice building your sound bath "nest" at home to see what you will need to be comfortable for an hour of limited movement. I want you to have the best possible experience.It's recommended to avoid alcohol and other substances for at least 24 hours before and after the sound bath.Note-worthy: an eye mask can help to block out extra sensory input, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the sound and vibration. You will get cold, bring a warm blanket (everyone gets cold, even during warm weather)." If the floor is not for you, folding chairs will be available at the event space. July: Trolly Disaster and the Tallest Man in the World Pack your camp chairs and blankets for Campfire Stories in the Story Park! It's like an outdoor storytime for history enthusiasts!During these monthly events, we'll regale you with tales of Manistee's past. We remind you that the vast majority of campfire stories are traditionally told to provide thrills and chills.These stories are not for the faint of heart! July's Campfire Stories event focuses on the deep roots of Forest Festival history. In fact, we'll be going way back to the year 1917, when the summer festival was celebrated as homecoming. Some of the stories that we'll cover include the Orchard Beach trolley disaster and the life and death of the tallest man in the world. There will be a very limited supply of chairs, so we encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs, camp chairs or comfy blankets. Please note that the library building is closed during this event. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled. Check the library's Facebook page for up to date information. Intended for adults, this event is free and open to the public.
