8th Grade Field Trip Airway Fun Center (Portage, MI) Friday, May 23, 2025 9:45 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. $35 per student  (non-refundable and includes transportation and 3 hours of unlimited indoor and outdoor activities.) Permission slip & money due Thursday, March 27, 2025.  Late permission slips and/or payments will not be accepted, resulting in your student not being able to attend. This field trip is viewed as a privilege and it is our goal for all students to attend these trips to enhance their learning experience. However, GLMS students will lose the opportunity to participate in their end-of-year grade-level field trip if a student receives a major referral between the start of the 3rd Trimester (March 10) through the date that the field trip takes place. Buses will depart from GLMS at 9:00 A.M. and will arrive back to GLMS at 2:00 P.M.  The 8th-grade teachers will be chaperoning students on this field trip.  Additional chaperones are not needed. If a parent/guardian would like to attend he/she will need to drive separately to and from Airway Fun Center and pay for his/her own activities and food. Students may ride home with their parent/guardian after signing out with their advisory teacher. Students wishing to ride home with someone other than their parent/guardian MUST have a signed note from their parent/guardian turned in to their advisory teacher May 21, 2025.Additional notes:   * Please have your child bring a sack lunch.  If you would like the school to provide a sack lunch, please let the Advisory teacher know by Friday, May 9, 2025.* Students can bring cash to purchase concessions or add funds to a Fun Card for arcade games and prizes.* GLMS dress code will be in effect on the bus and at the Airway Fun Center.* No coolers, blankets, pillows, or pop is allowed on the bus. Sixth Grade Field Trip IMAX Theatre and John Ball Zoo (Grand Rapids, MI) Friday, May 30, 2025 COST:  $38 * This non-refundable fee covers the costs of pre-paid chartered buses & pre-purchased entrance fee for the IMAX Theater & John Ball Zoo DUE DATE:  Thursday, March 27, 2025 * Return the permission slip and payment to your child's Science teacher no later than Thursday, March 27, 2025. * Late permission slips and payments will not be accepted, resulting in your student not being able to attend.  BRING:  * A disposable brown bag lunch* Dress for the weather * Extra money, if desired, for the gift shop and concession stand. FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE: * 8:00 A.M. - chartered buses depart from GLMS * 9:30 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. - IMAX Theater (Grand Rapids) to watch a 45-minute 3D movie.   * 10:30 A.M. - Arrival at John Ball Zoo.
