Kick off the New Year with New Exhibits at the Box Factory for the Arts The Box Factory for the Arts presents its Series 1 Exhibit which showcases work from 15 regional artists exhibited on all three floors of the historic building in St. Joseph, Michigan. The Williams Gallery will feature Karen Sunman, from Kalamazoo, who does abstract paintings using acrylics and mixed media.   Also showing in the gallery is Jamie Whitledge from Mattawan, whose paintings are done with acrylic paint and inks using credit cards. The Whitlow Gallery features a group show headed up by Kerry Hagy of Watervliet and includes Sarah Rydecki and Kellie Terry. They are showing needle felting, assemblage and collage. The Riverwalk Gallery features watercolor paintings from Katrina Jones, of South Haven, and acrylic paintings with pastels and pencil by Karyn Denten of LaGrange Park, Ill. The Skyview Gallery will feature two group shows. Carolyn O’Hearn, St. Joseph, heads up a group that includes Cynthia Fielding and Pamela Bower and shows their work in fused glass.  The second group is coordinated by Lorrie Grainger Abdo of Kalamazoo, and includes Gretchen Huggett, Rachel Stickney and Gayle Swank Reyes. Their show, “Boundless: Innovation and Traditions in Paper,” shows paper art. The Alcove Gallery will feature George Liebert who is a painter, printmaker and teacher based in Chicago. He has taught at the School of the Art Institute in various departments since 1979.  Formerly he was the resident Director of Ox Bow Summer School of Painting from 1989 till 2003, where a scholarship has been endowed in his honor.  The exhibits in all four galleries run from Jan. 16 – Feb. 22, 2026. The Box Factory’s winter hours are Thursday, 12-6 p.m., and Friday – Sunday, 12-4 p.m. at 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph. Entry is free and open to the public. Spreading all kinds of love-not only to the people closest to us, but also for those who may need a little extra encouragement, including someone you may not have reached out to for a long time. This Valentine’s card-making workshop and tea is 10:30-1:30 at The Holiday Social Club “Bunk House” in Buchanan, Michigan. This is how it works: Each participant is asked to bring 10 names and addresses of people in their life who could use a little love sent their way. The workshop includes: - Creating vintage inspired Valentines cards - A light lunch of tea and finger sandwiches - All the supplies needed to make the cards - Postage to send them off - Once finished, we’ll take them to the post office that afternoon. This is a limited seating event.

Grillin’, Chillin’, and Killin’ (a MyMysteryParty.com game) – The Sunny Lane Homeowner’s Association is holding a block party in an attempt to restore peace and harmony to the neighborhood. But will the bad apples spoil it for the whole barrel? Lakeside Inn’s Murder Mystery Dinners are evenings of fun, intrigue and delicious food (provided by sister restaurant, Tapa Taco, at the Gordon Beach Inn). If you’re new to our games, they are all immersive, interactive mysteries, with each guest sharing information and trying to find out whodunnit, all while enjoying a four course meal. But don’t worry, we will provide all the information you need for your role – no improvising required! To reserve places in the game, you can email [email protected], make a note with your online reservation at lakesideinns.com/stay, or call the Lakeside front desk at (269)469-0600. Tickets are $45 per person, and include the game and dinner. Tickets are limited. All dinners are BYOB, but we have soft drinks available. February 7 | Andy Sydow and Citadel Music Center present orchestral arrangements: Measure 1 and other songs @ The GhostLight Theatre Andy Sydow is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and storyteller whose music blends Americana, folk, and roots rock. A versatile performer, his live shows move effortlessly between tender acoustic ballads, gritty piano-driven grooves, and the occasional lap steel feature. In 2023, Sydow released Measure 1: Orchestral Arrangements by Andy Sydow, a six-song EP of reimagined original works plus a Pearl Jam cover. Written, arranged, and orchestrated entirely by Sydow, and recorded with classical musicians in Denver, the project introduced his concept of “cinematic folk.” CITADEL DANCE & MUSIC CENTER The Citadel Dance & Music Center strives to inspire a sense of excitement and curiosity and to instill the disciplines of Dance & Music as art forms and a way of life. Kick off the New Year with New Exhibits at the Box Factory for the Arts The Box Factory for the Arts presents its Series 1 Exhibit which showcases work from 15 regional artists exhibited on all three floors of the historic building in St. Joseph, Michigan. The Williams Gallery will feature Karen Sunman, from Kalamazoo, who does abstract paintings using acrylics and mixed media.   Also showing in the gallery is Jamie Whitledge from Mattawan, whose paintings are done with acrylic paint and inks using credit cards. The Whitlow Gallery features a group show headed up by Kerry Hagy of Watervliet and includes Sarah Rydecki and Kellie Terry. They are showing needle felting, assemblage and collage. The Riverwalk Gallery features watercolor paintings from Katrina Jones, of South Haven, and acrylic paintings with pastels and pencil by Karyn Denten of LaGrange Park, Ill. The Skyview Gallery will feature two group shows. Carolyn O’Hearn, St. Joseph, heads up a group that includes Cynthia Fielding and Pamela Bower and shows their work in fused glass.  The second group is coordinated by Lorrie Grainger Abdo of Kalamazoo, and includes Gretchen Huggett, Rachel Stickney and Gayle Swank Reyes. Their show, “Boundless: Innovation and Traditions in Paper,” shows paper art. The Alcove Gallery will feature George Liebert who is a painter, printmaker and teacher based in Chicago. He has taught at the School of the Art Institute in various departments since 1979.  Formerly he was the resident Director of Ox Bow Summer School of Painting from 1989 till 2003, where a scholarship has been endowed in his honor.  The exhibits in all four galleries run from Jan. 16 – Feb. 22, 2026. The Box Factory’s winter hours are Thursday, 12-6 p.m., and Friday – Sunday, 12-4 p.m. at 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph. Entry is free and open to the public. This Galentine’s Day, join us for a celebration of women and female friendship, complete with a cocktail hour and multi-course family style meal highlighting a host of exceptional female growers and producers from our region.   The evening will begin with a cocktail and appetizer hour in our School House, featuring Granor Spirits and Granor-grown produce. During this time, you will have the opportunity to write an encouraging message to a fellow attendee inside a quirky, food-themed Nourishing Notes greeting card and to select a botanical oracle card to guide your self-reflection for the upcoming year.
