The Jane Austen Book Club is the second Thursday of every month. We will be reading through all of Jane Austen’s works. For May we will be watching Northanger Abbey. Summary: Catherine Morland, the daughter of a rural clergyman, is taken to Bath for the season by family friends and once there, she meets Henry Tilney. As a result of exaggerated reports of her family’s wealth, Catherine is invited to Northanger Abbey, the medieval seat of the Tilneys. Henry’s father then receives a second report – as misleading as the first – representing Catherine’s parents as extremely humble.

Our May selection is The Funeral Ladies of Ellerie County by Claire Swinarski. Book Summary: Armed with a Crock-Pot and a pile of recipes, a grandmother, her granddaughter, and a mysterious young man work to bring a community together in this uplifting novel for readers of The Chicken Sisters. Esther Larson has been cooking for funerals in the Northwoods of Wisconsin for seventy years.
