REGISTRATION IS RECOMMENDED: Call 507-334-2089 or email [email protected] *** Join local Artist Kate Langlais as she leads free painting classes for all ages. (Ages 8 and under must have an adult caregiver.) No registration required but space is limited. Contact the library if you have any questions or would like to participate. All painting supplies included. A few drawing materials will be available for use as well. Classes will be held weekly on Mondays from 9-10a starting 6/9 outside on the library's plaza. Kate is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Join Ms. Deni in the children's early literacy play area of the library for STORYTIME on Thursdays at 10am! Storytime is intended for children ages 0-6 with an actively participating adult caregiver. We'll share stories and songs and fun. Storytime encourages language development, teaches early literacy skills, and fosters a love of books and a lifetime of learning. No registration is required. Older siblings and friends are always welcome. Please note there is no storytime on June 19, as the library will be closed for the federal holiday Juneteenth. We will have special storytime guest events on July 3 and August 7. Stay tuned for more details! The last storytime for the summer session is August 7. BookBuds is an informal reading buddies program for youth that pairs younger kids (elementary grades) with older kids (middle & high school grades) for one-on-one reading. Our TAB members will be the "big kids" available - you bring your elementary aged youth! No registration necessary. Drop in for any length of time between 4:00-5:00 pm on Thursdays in November or December. Younger kids can read to or be read to by older kids or the pair can take turns sharing a book together. This program is meant to be a fun, no pressure way for youth to build a passion for reading for the fun of it. It is not a tutoring program. Books will be chosen by the readers from the library’s collection or favorites can also be brought from home. Questions?
