Join us for friendly match play! Open to youth chess players of all abilities, from complete beginners to the more advanced. Game boards and pieces will be provided. Geared for youth ages 8-18.

Paw Pals: Read with Odin

Read to Odin, a friendly dog who loves to sit and listen to stories! For young readers ages 6-12. Reading sessions are 15 minutes long.  Registration is required. Register at the front desk or call Riverview Library at 651-292-6626.

St. Paul Bird Alliance joins with Friends of Swede Hollow and Friends of the Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County and the St. Paul Public Library to offer this great spring birding experience in the heart of St. Paul. Come learn about the history of the site and see what spring migrants might be passing through the Hollow. Those who do not want to walk the route can bring a folding chair and join Kiki Sonnen for a “bird sit” opportunity at the meeting spot. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are available to borrow.

Are you new to birding or just looking for a refresher? If so, this bird walk is for you! Saint Paul Public Library is partnering with the Saint Paul Audubon Society and the Urban Bird Collective to offer a beginning bird walk. Join volunteer guides at Riverview Library for a walk through the neighborhood to learn and experience the basics for finding, describing, and identifying birds. Topics will include how to use binoculars and a field guide or birding app, birding etiquette, and birding ethics. For teens and adults. Space is limited to 15 participants and registration is required. Registration begins 30 days prior to event. A waitlist will be available once registration has filled.
