Led by a Ragamala company member, this presentation introduces participants to South Indian classical dance. Participants have the opportunity to try out some of the intricate hand gestures of Bharatanatyam, and learn how to tell silent stories with their hands. This program is recommended for kids and families of all ages and is made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Storytime is an interactive learning opportunity for you and your child to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs and fun. These developmentally appropriate programs help your little one get ready for school and life by reading and playing. Recommended ages 0-5.  Storytime will be in Room 112 of the West 7th Community Center. The storytime will last 30-45 minutes. Families are invited to check out materials and play in the West 7th Library space afterwards.

Library in the Park: Laying the First Stone

Construction has begun! Gather with community to celebrate this milestone by laying a "stone" in a mosaic art piece for the new building. Local artist, Lori with Mosiac on a Stick, will lead us in creating together a glass mosaic art piece that will hang in the window ......More

Construction has begun! Gather with community to celebrate this milestone by laying a "stone" in a mosaic art piece for the new building. Local artist, Lori with Mosiac on a Stick, will lead us in creating together a glass mosaic art piece that will hang in the window of the new community room, filtering colorful light into the new gathering space.  The event at Horton Park, just down the road from the library site, kicks off with storytime with SPPL Children's Specialist Aura, followed by mosaic making and other activities for all ages including rock painting, ice cream, Mobile Library, Double Dutch with Mizz Mercedez, giant bubble making, Cat Tour scavenger hunt, DJ, and more!  Project staff and architects will be present with information about the new building. Short program at 11:30 a.m. Drop in any time!
