INFORMATION FOR SOUTHVIEW STUDENTS: Southview Unified Schedule: - 9:10- Meet in East Commons - 9:20- Bus to High School - 9:30 Arrive at High School - 11:20 Bus back to SV - 11:30 Arrive back at SV (students will eat lunch at the event) Good afternoon SV teachers - We are excited to share that WHS will be hosting our annual WHS Unified Basketball Invitational on Wednesday, February 11, 2026! This event will include all of our Unified Athletes and their partners. In your mailboxes today are pink partner permission forms. Please send home those permission forms with students in your class that you feel would be a great partner and someone who would support that peer in our basketball event. This is a student-only event that celebrates inclusion, teamwork, and school spirit. WHS will be welcoming Unified high school teams from Delano, Dassel-Cokato, Watertown-Mayer, Chanhassen, Orono, and Monticello, making for a fun and energetic morning filled with some truly outstanding students. Students will be out of the building from 9:00 - 11:30ish (depending on lunches). Students will be eating lunch at the high school. For those students 3rd - 5th who are returning in time to have SV lunch they can still order a lunch and then go outside for recess. I will have a list of students in those grades who choose not to eat a second lunch and want to go straight out to recess. During the event, students will: Participate in a skills camp alongside their Southview peers Watch a high school Unified basketball game Enjoy lunch before returning to Southview We are looking forward to a great morning of fun with our Unified students! If you have any questions please reach out. Hello fellow fishing friends, The WHS Conservation Club is looking forward to hosting the ISD 110 5th graders for an Ice Fishing Extravaganza on Friday January 30, 2026.  We will be doing this in shifts again this year with busses dropping off at Inn Towne Marina. Southview will arrive at 9:00 and depart at 10:15.   Bayview will arrive at 10:45 and depart at 12:00.   Laketown will arrive at 12:30 and depart at 1:45.   All of your classes will meet myself and Mr. Jensen at the Inn Towne Marina access and 5th grade ice fishing announcement be walking out to fish houses with Conservation Club Student Guides.  Your students will need warm clothes AND boots.  They will be provided bait (Thanks In Towne Marina!) and fishing poles to use during the event.  We would like to limit your students to using just the fishing gear we have provided.  You and your students will have a warm fish house to fish in. Dan O'Brien has put together a great ice fishing unit that you can use to introduce your classes to the sport of ice fishing.  (Ice Fishing Unit).  The Southview office team also put together a field trip notification that you are welcome to adapt to your class.(Ice Fishing Invite) We will have representatives from Minnesota DNR, Carver County Sheriff's Department, Waconia Fire Department, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service at the event as resources and additional safety personnel. We would encourage your students to say hi to them and ask them questions about their love of the outdoors.  We currently have enough ice to drive vehicles on and so unless it's bitterly cold (refer to your outdoor recess policy), we'll be on! Teachers can you: Put your students into groups of 4 that will be fishing together. It doesn't have to be exactly four in each group but please keep them between three and five. Email me at [email protected] (by Tuesday Jan 20) the total number of students AND the number of groups you will have in your class.  This number will tell me how many ice fishing houses(one/group) I need and conservation club guides (one/group) to assign to each of your classes. Let me know (by Tuesday Jan 20) if you have any students that may need any additional accommodations (such as transportation) or have any activity specific allergies (such as an allergy to fish) that we should be aware of. We're looking forward to seeing you all next week!
